Awesome Tip: Being Yourself Is Your Greatest Opportunity | Meeting with Charli D'Amelio

We all see viral videos on social media and wonder how they blew up and what sort of secrets they used to gain so much traction. Gary sat down with viral TikTok user Charli D’Amelio and her family to talk about their experience after having one video explode on the platform. The biggest themes throughout the conversation are that nothing was intentionally done to make her videos go viral and that she was sharing her passion for dancing, which she has been practicing since she was 4 years old, with the world. She didn’t try to conform to a popular trend on TikTok or do what everyone else was doing. Charli just shared the thing she was passionate about and if you do the same, you can start building your own community and brand around what you enjoy.

  1. Funny how Gary tries to make it seem as if he knows what she is talking about saying "tell me this to educate the audience", while truth is he's trying to pull as much as possible from her to learn about tiktok himself 😀

  2. Meanwhile she took what made her famous from a black person. Just want to put that out there. You don't see her very often today do you?? She used as much resources from that ONE dance and never got a viral dance since. Hmmmm #culturevulture And whats crazy is that she never thanked the originator UNTIL everyone found out who originally made the dance (P.R. move). She's wack. Now she's scrambling for her next viral video smh

  3. Gary would be a great detective. He will drill you like it’s nobody’s business Sharp mind that is constantly working. If he was on Hawaii five O the famous line would be “Book him Gary”.

  4. Kind of funny reading all these comments bashing Gary's interview style. You guys are clearly missing the point here… Thank you Gary & Team for spreading valuable information (for free). There are def. many people who gain something powerful for their lives through the story of this lovely family, I am sure! Just like me for example: I'm a 25 year old guy from Berlin, Germany, who loves to make music, and got into Tiktok because of Gary's awareness of it's potential. Not to brag or anything, but in a matter of a month I've gained over 15K followers, which honestly is crazy to me, because I've never had anything close to 1000 on every other platform I've tried. It's a journey, and it feels like Germany is slowly catching up on it as well. To finish here I want to say, cheers to Charli and her family for keeping it real, and being so humble. You are an inspiration to many, and I'm glad that you're around!

  5. Here's how I see it. Gary doesn't fuck with small talk. He's a business guy, and if he can read what your story is about or where its about to go, he's going to cut you off. Respect man, he's an adult, and he doesn't want to waste time.

  6. I understand that Tik tok is huge now. But something about it doesn’t feel right to me.

It has had more paid advertising than any other social media platform I’ve seen.

I also know china’s narrative is to become #1

    Something just doesn’t sit right

  7. Gary's time is valuable. Him butting in and interrupting early on in the conversation sets the tone that when you talk to him you need to speak more efficiently, don't speak if you're not heading to a point. It comes off a certain way for sure, but, it's a power move.

  9. Yeah the whole video was thinking about how empathetic this Gary Vee guy is and seems. Like he literally is so careful with and understands everyone’s feelings and perspectives and idk. Very empathic /empathetic.

  10. Everyone seems upset with this interviewer for constantly interrupting, but I see it more as clarification. He makes their story a lot more interesting with the questions he asks, and the things he likes to clarify.

She explained things that we would have never known otherwise. He's just coming at this interview in a more unique way than most people would have. Most interviewers would have just let her tell her story the way she always does, and so much interesting detail would have been left out.

  11. Ummm u can't hmmmm u gotta do what u got to do to be famous u can't rlly be your self hmm charli just gets followers and likes and im like why does she get a lot of likes
