Apple’s next big iPhone upgrade will include a new model called the iPhone 17 Air, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
This seems like an obvious way to expand the line, given Apple’s success with the Air name for thinner MacBooks and iPads (I’m currently writing these words on a MacBook Air), and it could be more attractive than the iPhone Plus or mini .
Gurman writes that the iPhone 17 Air will include Apple’s first internal modem, which is said to debut in the new iPhone SE in the spring. The phone is also supposed to be Apple’s thinnest smartphone yet – two millimeters thinner than current iPhones. So it would represent a step towards the foldable iPhone and iPad that the company is reportedly developing for 2026 or later.
Gurman also downplays other Apple products he expects to launch in 2025, including a smart home hub. Not on the list: A new version of the company’s Vision Pro mixed reality headset.
