Selling Sunset’s Chrisell Stause is opening up about how she “froze with fear” during LA wildfire evacuations.
The reality star, 43, shared during her appearance on Wednesday, January 15 contention that the fires and subsequent evacuation process brought back long-buried memories of watching her house burn as a child.
“When we had to evacuate, there was a fire like in our backyard. It was immediately like, ‘You have to go,'” she explained during the episode. “I think I’m frozen with fear. I had somehow forgotten, when I was 12 years old, I saw my house burning.”
Stause added that the incident was “something you don’t think about. It happened a long time ago.”
However, this caused him to “freeze” when it came time to evacuate. Stause praised her wife, the Australian singer G Flip (real name Georgia Claire Flipo) with taking charge during evacuations, while the reality TV star struggled due to her past experience with wildfires.
“You don’t know how you’re going to react. I guess I would have liked to think I’m fine in an emergency,” Stause continued. “But it kind of showed me, I really needed a little kick in the butt, and G was there to keep me focused and so it was just nice to have them.”
Stause further praised the G Flip via an Instagram Story last week, as she reflected on her own traumatic childhood experience.

While Stause was evacuated, she was lucky not to lose her home in the fires that ravaged parts of Los Angeles, including the exclusive Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Santa Monica and Hollywood Hills. Stause is one of many celebrities caught up in the natural disaster. Stars like Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Paris Hilton AND Miles Teller are among those whose houses were burned by the flames and turned into ruins.
Stause started seeing G Flip after her breakup Jason Oppenheim in late 2021. Stause and G Flip went on to tie the knot in May 2023.
Stause opened up about her relationship with G Flip in an interview with Vogue in June 2022, telling the paper, “just being around G (is) such an uplifting experience; if you ever had the pleasure of being in the same room with them, you would quickly understand what I mean. I love feeling that endless support to want the other person to be fully who they are.”
