The UN Palestinian aid agency said that its humanitarian work in the occupied areas and Gaza was not yet complete on Friday, although an Israeli ban that came into force the day before and what it described as hostility to her employees.
An Israeli law adopted in October in October prohibits the United Nations’ influence and employment agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) on Israeli country – including Annect East – Jerusalem – and contact with the Israeli authorities from Thursday.
Great Britain, France and Germany repeated their concern about the new law on Friday, the humanitarian authorities say that they will have an enormous impact on the destroyed Gaza, as the staff and transit to the Palestinian enclave through Israel.
“We continue to offer services,” Juliette Touma, director of communication from Unrwa, told a news information in Geneva.
“In Gaza, the UNRWA is still the backbone of the international humanitarian reaction. We still have an international staff in Gaza and continue to bring trucks with basic supplies.”
She said that any disorders of his work in Gaza would conclude a ceasefire contract that endangered the war between Israel and Hamas.
“If Unrwa is not allowed to bring and distribute deliveries, the fate is at risk of this very fragile ceasefire and will be in danger,” she said.
Employees in the West Bank, East Jerusalem
Tens of thousands of Palestinian refugees in the occupied Eastern Jerusalem – whose annexation is not recognized internationally by Israel – also receive education, health care and other services from UNRWA.
Touma said that his Palestinian employees in West Bank and in Eastern Jerusalem have difficulties, and cite examples of stone strikes and holdups at control points and protests at its locations and accuse “Israeli Extremists”.
“They stand in front of an exceptionally enemy environment, while a violent disinformation campaign against Unrwa continues,” she said. “It was a really rough journey that it was not easy. Our employees were not protected.”
Israel has officially informed the United Nations that since 1967 it has been canceled the agreement that has regulated its relationships with the main organization of UN UN Aid Organization for Palestinian refugees.
On Thursday, Israeli demonstrators devastated a UN sign in front of one of his connections by spraying a blue star from David on it, according to pictures that shared Touma with Reuters.
International employees have already gone after their visa has ended, she added. The agency has reported more than 270 of its employees who were killed in the 15-month gaza strip and demanded investigations.
Israel has long criticized Unrwa and claims that his employees were involved in the fatal October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel who triggered the gaza. The United Nations stated that nine Unrwa employees may have been involved and were released.
Humanitarian aid flows
The ceasefire agreement has approved humanitarian aid and enabled the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza and Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons.
Before the agreement, experts had warned of the upcoming famine in parts of the north gaza strip. The supplies have risen since then and the World Food Program said that more than 32,000 tons of food have been brought to the guests since January 19.
At the same briefing, Dr. Rik Peeperkorn of the World Health Organization that around 12,000 to 14,000 patients were waiting to be evacuated from the Gaza via the Rafah crossing. Fifty should be postponed on Saturday because some children could die.
This would be the first medical evacuations about Rafah since it was closed in May last year, he added.
The evacuations “urgently need to be resumed and a medical corridor has to open up,” he said.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said that Israel has undertaken to facilitate humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip, and said help should go through other international agencies and NGOs.
“Humanitarian aid does not correspond to the UNRWA, and those who want to support humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip should invest their resources in organizations as an alternative to Unrwa,” he said in a statement.
“We will adhere to the law and we will continue to make humanitarian aid easier.”
