Belgium’s Thomas Detry stressed PGA Tour’s first victory in his career with a seven-storey triumph in WM Phoenix Open.
The finishing of the tournament on the 24th, Detry is the first Belgian to win the tournament.
American duo Michael Kim and Daniel Berger both shot 67 in the last round to finish the second in the 17th.
The only time Detry appeared under little pressure was when Berger greeted his fifth round bird at 15 to reduce the superiority to only two shots.
But Detry underlined his confidence by following Berger for his bird before effectively choosing the competition when a stunning approach to the first 16th raised a first bird. In fact, PGA Tour Zog’s newest winner of the last three holes of the tournament.
A Detry Jubilant celebrated in Green Green with his two children and his wife, Sarah, before plunging into champagne by a waiting Matt Wallace, who had finished his week at six under an excellent four under final finals.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout (66) and Jordan Spieth (68) ended a blow further in the 16th.
Justin Thomas rejected from 102 yards for Eagle in the last – a shot that pushed him into a tie for the sixth, alongside US Comrade Will Will Chandler and Scotland Robertyra.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler had begun on the eighth day in Detry and briefly threatened to run in his first title of the year as he spent four in the first six holes.
But the birds were told about the masters champion after that and, once in the nine back, his round non-characteristically divided while Bogeys at 12, 13 and 16 was followed by a double Bogey in the last.
Scheffler fired five for nine back, which threw him back to one over for round and one tie for the 25th place – his first end outside the 20 best June of US Open.

Scheffler also found water in the 15th parcel after linking its second blow, though at least collided after a penalty drop to save with a fine up and down.
