Hotstar and Jiocinema, two widely used video broadcasting applications in India, are melted in Jiohotstar.
Joostar, a joint enterprise between Viacom18 and Star India’s relief, said on Friday that he had integrated the wide library of Jiocinema’s content into a rebuilt version of the Disney Hotstar platform.
The united app, Live since the early Friday Local India, will show hundreds of thousands of hours of local content, more than 100 television channels, as well as movies and television shows by Disney, Warner Bros, HBO, NBCUniversal and Paramount. Jiohotstar aims to reach more than 500 million users in the country.
Jiohotstar, who offers 19 languages and produces 30,000 hours of television programming per year, has reconciliation plans ranging from $ 149 ₹ ($ 1.71) per three months (supported on ads) and $ 299 ($ 3,45) per month per month experience without ads. The advertising level allows simultaneous viewing on four screens immediately, while the cheapest advertising model restricts it to a screen.
The consolidation follows the merger of $ 8.5 billion of Reliance with the Indian wealth of Walt Disney last year, which created a joint venture that controls about 85% of India’s transmission market and half of television viewing.
“Entertainment is no longer a privilege, but a shared experience for everyone,” said Kiran Mani, Jostar’s digital chief executive. The group said the existing Jiocinema subscribers would move on to Jiohotstar after their current reconciliations expire.
The Union brings about the most valuable sports rights of India under one platform, including the properties of crickets such as the Premier League and International Council of the Council of Crossing, along with the Football Premier League and the FIFA World Cup.
The Jiocinema app will phase as they expire the subscriptions of existing customers. Jiocinema subscribers will be able to “transition” and establish their Jiohotstar subscriptions, the company Techcrunch told.
Consolidation reflects the difficulties that foreign media groups have faced in the sensitive market of India prices. Netflix and Amazon Prime have also struggled to increase paid subscriptions despite heavy investment in local content.
Amazon, who won MX Player last year, is aggressively expanding the new video broadcasting app by more than 100 original shows and movies this year. MX Player was the third most popular video broadcasting app in December, shortly after Hotstar and Jiocinema, according to Senor Tower.
