Galatasaray says they intend to bring criminal proceedings on the “racist statements” made by Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho to the Turkish people.
Super Lig title rivals withdrew 0-0 on Monday after tensions had grown for the appointment of a judge before the match against Slovenian official Slavko Vincic Compiled by the Turkish Football Federation.
Mourinho had welcomed the decision to use the judge who formalized the Champions League final last season after some recent controversy in Turkish football.
After the game, Mourinho made comments about the behavior of Galatasaray’s bench.
Mourinho also praised Vincic’s performance and said it would have been a “catastrophe” if the match had been referred by a Turkish official.
A statement from Galatasaray read: “Since the beginning of his managerial duties in Turkey, Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has repeatedly issued humiliating statements to the Turkish people. Today his discourse has escalated beyond merely immoral comments in rhetoric without equivocation.
“In this way, we officially declare our intention to initiate criminal proceedings regarding racist statements made by Jose Mourinho, and accordingly we will file official complaints to UEFA and FIFA. Moreover, we will observe diligently the attitude adopted by Fenerbahce – an institution making genuine ‘explanation of moral values’ – in response to the reproachful behavior exposed by their manager. “
Mourinho said at his press conference after the match: “I went to the judge’s dressing room after the game. The fourth official was there – a Turkish judge – I told him if you were the judge would be a disaster.
“If they are (galatasaray) really, really good. If they want to be an example of ‘we are good, we are strong, we are the champions, we want to show how well we are’, They should seek aliens every match.
“But when the judges are strangers, the UEFA cup – go home, against us at home – a targeted shot. But if they are good and they really believe in themselves and in their power, they must ask the federation.
“We thank the judge for after the big dives in the first minute and their bench is at the top of the child, with a Turkish judge, the child would have a yellow card after a minute and after five minutes I would have to change. Thankfully it was a perfect experience for him. “
Vincic showed seven yellow cards during the match and had to temporarily suspend the game after the flames were thrown into the stand.
