May Hermiz the co -owner of Toast in the Erie Street. She says that the day took an unexpected turn during her lunch when the couple from Ann Arbor, Michigan, told her they wanted to pay for everyone in the restaurant.
“I was stunned, so to speak, because nobody did nobody in our nine years in which he is in business, nobody paid for the entire restaurant,” Hermiz told CBC News.
The staff received the restaurant’s attention and did the announcement before the woman was sitting in one of the back tables of the restaurant to speak.
“Everyone cheered. They cheered them and applauded them.”
“We were just so surprised.– Irene Chyz
Hermiz said the woman told the customer: “She hates what the United States do to us, and she does not support it. And she is so happy that we won the hockey game and a small sign of appreciation for Canadians and how much You and us love and loved how much she loves to support local
“They all cheered them on again,” said Hermiz.
Trump said Monday It will progress with a tariff of 25 percent In most imports from Canada next week, the country has torn down the United States for too long and it is time to make a stopover.
“This is an abuse that took place for many, for many years,” said Trump reporters in the White House. “The tariffs will go forward, yes, and we will make a lot of territory”, “
“It was just wonderful to experience it.”
Irene Chyz was in the restaurant with a friend whose birthday they celebrated. She says the restaurant was full at that time.
Chyz says the gesture brought her good luck in a time when she was worried about how Trump talks about Canada.
“We were just backed up. You have never heard of something like that, and it was just wonderful to experience it,” said Chyz.
“We found that people started to go and go and thank them for what they had done because they supported Canada and their love for Canada.”
“My friend and I went over and we thank them, they hugged them and they were just so warm, beautiful, beautiful people,” added Chyz.
As they thanked the couple, Chyz and her friend found that their names were Sarah and Bill from Ann Arbor, about an hour’s drive from Windsor.
“This is a bit of a drive to come. So that was just a really, very, very exciting, amazing experience,” said Chyz.
“It was just so high … It was really. I still feel that someone came to our country in his generosity and did so for people who didn’t know at all. It is really good … Feel . ”
“It was just very generous”
Aileen Ganley mother, who lives in Tecumse, was in the restaurant with her godchildren. She said they were ready and waiting for the waitress to bring the bill.
“We were all shocked because it didn’t happen because there are about 50 to 60 people there,” said Ganley-Mother and added that there was “a complete cheers and clap”.
Ganley mother said she went to the couple because she still thought it was necessary to give some money for the top.
“You said ‘No, that’s the least we could do,” she said. “They said … they didn’t want to stop supporting Canada and love Canada, and they felt bad for the crack it caused, so it was only very generous.
Ganley mother informed the experience in social media as a “good news story” to counteract the numerous bad news that she is used to seeing them.
