Charley Hull opposed the wind conditions to make a start without forgiveness and to take a blow to the early lead at the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore.
English English scored three birds in its first round 69 to sit in second place in Sentosa Golf Club, after a Lim Kim set the early rhythm after scoring a four -year -old.
Hull was unable to take advantage of any of the four parties, but the birds charged in the third, 10 and 14 to move to second place after the opening day, when only 13 of the 66 players ended up under money.
“I just felt like playing strong enough,” Hull said after her round. “You need to judge your yards very well. The greens are strong, so you agree to hit 30 meters away.”
Kim mixed five birds with a trick in the 16th and 16th to reach the top of the leader in front of Hull, while Australia’s Minjee Lee and Yin Ruoning Yin are among the groups of four-bound players in two under two.
“It was slightly up and down,” Lee said. “I started with a bird, but I just hit some loose discs here and there. Put yourself in positions in which I didn’t really want to be, but some kind of crash around, I made a lot of uplifting.”
