After attracting the Allies, Donald Trump praises the praise for ‘special’ Keir Starmer

Your guide to what the 2024 American elections mean for Washington and the world

Donald Trump has specialized in obtaining the contempt of America’s traditional allies since he arrived at the White House, but on Thursday he adopted a wonderful new approach: glorious praise for a “fantastic” Britain and his “special” guest, Sir Keir Starmer.

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom was a “special man”, King Charles was “a beautiful man” and Starmer Vic’s wife was “a beautiful, brilliant woman”.

Trump even described Starmer’s accent as “beautiful”.

The evaluation, carried out during several hours of negotiations at the White House, was recited at several convincing press events, in which both parties seemed determined to show that it was possible to have a positive relationship with Trump.

Starmer, who brought an invitation to Scotland to Trump by King Charles, described this honor as “incredible” and “unprecedented”. The relationship, if someone had lost it, was constantly described by Starmer as “special”.

There was a substance after the glazed words of honey: Trump surprisingly approved the Starmer agreement to transfer sovereignty over the Chagos Islands to Mauritius, an agreement previously criticized by old members of its administration.

And the president depended on the perspective of a US-MB-MB-A-Ma-Masean deal in London and Washington, but never actually surrendered-as Britain avoids Trump’s tariff fee, including his threat of a 25 percent tax on EU imports.

But in Starmer’s main goal in the White House talks – providing a US “background” to European peacekeepers in Ukraine after a possible peace deal with Russia – he came out less to tell about his deception.

Trump’s assertion that a new US-Ukraine mineral agreement would serve as a “background” in itself, because Russia would not dare to hit American workers and economic interests did not go as long as Starmer would like. And strictly in the Military Front, Trump stated: “The British do not need much help.”

Starmer could only say that there was a “very productive discussion” on this issue, when asked about it at the press conference that followed the meeting. “The deal must come first, but yes, our teams will talk about how we make sure that agreement is, it is stable and implemented,” he said.

On Sunday, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom will host representatives of 18 countries in London to decide what to do next. Will Britain or its allies agree to set peacemakers in Ukraine without the promise of US support?

Starmer seemed to remain hope, praising Trump for the “change of conversation” in Ukraine.

The prime minister will also be able to seek a comfort, if not encouragement, in the economic front.

Trump stopped saying that the United Kingdom would undoubtedly save high taxes on the imported goods he has been threatening and applying for the nearest US trade partners.

But the president joked Starmer “tried” a lot to persuade him to leave the UK to faint. Trump said a tariff exemption was possible, as long as negotiators in Washington and London may agree on a trade agreement that has been elusive for years.

Trump and Starmer were short in the details of such an agreement, but they said it could focus on digital trade and advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence.

“Instead of fixing these new technologies a lot, we are taking advantage of the opportunities they offer,” Starmer said.

Trump said trade talks will include his senior officials, including JD Vance, Vice President Scott Bessent, Treasury Secretary and Howard Lutnick, Secretary of Commerce.

“I think we will have two deals. A deal to end the war, and I think we will end with a great trade agreement,” Trump said.
