Your guide to what the 2024 American elections mean for Washington and the world
The most important task of the American legislature – the first branch of the Government of America – is to control the executive. With that extent, the country’s 119th Congress has lost its purpose less than two months after entering the hearing. Donald Trump’s administration is clearly pursuing a “united executive theory” of the US Presidency that largely bypasses Capitol Hill and has little basis on constitutional law. Instead of asserting its prerogatives, Congress is passing.
The bodies created by law can only be stripped by law. However, Congress has done nothing to stop the closure of USAID and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The Education Department seems to be another on the list of Elon Musk’s goals. Congress created the role of general inspectors whose task is to blow the whistle for waste, fraud and abuse in federal agencies and departments. She raised no objection, though, when Trump summarized 17 of them in his first week. Congress has the power of the bag. However, only parts of the judiciary, the third branch of the government in America, have opposed Trump’s expense spending and Musk’s budget curves.
The Lion part in the blame for the passivity of Capitol Hill belongs to the Republicans, who have a close majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Those who still believe that the Republican Party is a normal political outfit is turning a blind eye.
Here is a sample of the resolutions proposed by Republican lawmakers in recent weeks: Ann Paulina Luna and Florida wants Congress to adopt a law by adding Trump’s resemblance to Ruymore Mounts along with presidents like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln to reflect “his wonderful heritage”; New York Claudia Tenney proposes to make Trump’s birthday on June 14 a federal holiday along with Washington; A draft law from Andy Ogles of Tennessee would change the US Constitution to allow Trump to run for a third term, so he has time to restore “America to greatness”. Addison McDowell of North Carolina would rename Washington’s Dulles Airport at Donald J Trump International Airport to thank him for the new “Golden Age of America”.
Such performances may have been ashamed of George III, who praised Washington as the “greatest man in the world” for the shed of his military commission after the revolutionary war. But the runs are more ominous than that. Senator Alaskan Lisa Murkowski, was a rare Republican voice in Trump’s reprimand for “hug (Vladimir) Putin” after Friday humiliation for Volodymyr zelenskyy. However, many people chose to strengthen the complaint of a Fringe reporter that the president of Ukraine had failed to wear a costume. No one has opposed the lid and the musco-footwear blouse of Musk, let alone the unconfirmed former official of the billionaire usurpation of the congress fiscal prerogative. Musk is not even called to testify.
The American Senate once boasted that it was the largest controversial body in the world. However, it has confirmed unskilled unqualified candidates to lead the Pentagon, the Department of Health and Human Services and as Director of National Intelligence. Musk corrected Republican Wavers threatening to spend millions to get them out.
The Democratic Party, meanwhile, is responding to Trump’s capture of routine maneuvers. Although in the minority and missing teeth, the Democrats also seem to have lost their language. While Trump has shown in a single mind in recent years, a minority party can increase national perception when it operates in unison. There is a promotion of returning to the American capital at the Tesla Shows municipality meetings and protests. Peaceful opposition is a sacred American right. The Congress was intended to hold the presidency to account on behalf of the people. In his absence, states, business, civil society and the public should conquer that free country.
