Passwords are ubiquitous, despite being not foolish and cannot protect your online identity. Almost one -third of the reported data violations over the past decade occurred due to stolen credentials for Verizon, including some of the biggest violations of all time.
Instead, the industry has mainly found controversial transitions the most prominent solution to replace passwords. More than 15 billion online accounts can use passkeys, and large technology companies – Amazon, Apple, Google, and Microsoft, and others – are working together to promote the adoption of Passkey.
But users are still moving away from crossings due to lack of transportation and a general state of fraud.
Starting online security Hawcx aims to fix some of the headaches with transitions using its new password -free certificate technology, which receives the best of the passage, but without their limitations.
Users can find setting transitions in their difficult and challenging accounts when registering using multiple devices, as noted by Dan Goodin in Ars Technica. While passkeys obviously provide better security on passwords, accounts of accounts and recovers can become a costly issue for businesses using scale transitions.
Founded in 2023 by Riya Shanmugam, which spent nearly two decades in Adobe, Google and New Relic; Along with the leading technology official Selva Kumaraswamy and leading scientist Ravi Ramaraju, Hawcx says he offers a platform -agnostic solution that allows developers to add five code lines to enable her technology without a password.
Hawcx said its solution is not based on transmitting or storing private keys from equipment, such as passkeys. Instead, Shanmugam told Techcrunch that Hawcx cryptographically generates private keys whenever the user signs.
Since generated private keys are not stored in a user’s equipment, Hawcx says its technology works on older devices that do not have modern chips to support the typical passage configuration.
“We are not recreating the wheel radically in most of the processes we have built,” Shanmugam Techcrunch told Shanmugam.
In one example, if a user passes from one device to another, the Hawcx solution asks if they want the new device to register in their account and verify the user’s authenticity to leave them.
However, in this case, the solution will not create another private key to be stored on the new device or in a cloud service – unlike a typical passage configuration in which a new private key is generated or stored in the new hardware, certified using the older device, or synchronized through a cloud service.
“No one is challenging beyond the foundation,” Shanmugam said while referring to competition in the digital identity management space. “What we are challenging is the foundation itself. We are not building on top of what Passkeys offers as a protocol. We are saying that this protocol comes with a crazy amount of restrictions on users, enterprises and developers, and we can make it better. “
Hawcx has presented patents, but has not seen it set by valuable companies or technology by third parties, which can hinder confidence in its service.
However, Hawcx has raised $ 3 million in a pre-rounded round of engineering capital, along with participation by Boldcap, to speed up its product development and reach the market.
Shanmugam told Techcrunch that the start is in discussions with big banks and play companies to start his pilots in the coming weeks, which will go between three to six months with a limited group of users. Starting also plans to evaluate technology with a “couple of cryptography experts” at Stanford University.
“As we are crossing the back, adoption is low. It is clear to me that just as well as they are going through and they have solved the security problem, still told the problem of usability,” Tushar Phondge, the director of consumer identity at ADP, said.
PHONDGE is bullish in Hawcx technology and is set to place it in ADP for a pilot to prove whether it addresses the issues that bring the passage passage, including the device dependencies and the blockage of the base system.
After all, Shanmugam said that Hawcx aims to be a unified platform of certification for businesses over time and partners with different players to integrate services such as document verification, live video verification, and even background controls.
