Thibaut Courtois has revealed that he discussed his long absence from international football with his Belgian team friends in his return to the creation of the national team.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois has not played for Belgium since the departure of the national team camp in Akrimonia ahead of a European Championship qualification in Estonia in June 2023.
But the appointment of Rudi Garcia like the replacement of Domenico Tedesco earlier this year has paved the way for Returning, and the 32-year-old now seems to play at future nations of the future nations against Ukraine.
The 102 hats goalkeeper said he hopes he can now win against Belgium fans after cleaning the air with his international colleagues.
“I am relieved that we were able to talk everything. Everything is clear and now we are looking forward,” Courto said.
“I know I made my mistakes. At the time, I was not mentally 100 percent ready to play.
“After a long season. Sometimes you have impulsive feedback and that wasn’t smart for me. That wasn’t the best thing for the team and supporters.
“I still think the football association could have handled it better afterwards, but I also suffered a serious knee injury. I was not ready to play in the European Championship anyway. And when a relationship with a coach breaks down is also difficult.
“Many were written that I left because I didn’t get the captain’s ribbon, but that’s not true. This is the biggest misinformation.
“I understand it was difficult for fans at the time. I hope they can accept me again. I understand it’s not easy, but I hope they support the team.”
Belgian midfielder Yoi Tielemanans confirmed that there are no issues related to Courtois’s return to international folding, adding that the teams are all waiting together.
“The most important thing is that he realizes that some things went down badly with the group of players, but he said he had not thought about it,” Aston Villa’s player said.
“We’ve set things right, the team has fully accepted Thibau’s decision, and now we’ve taken our footage to move forward, winning both play-off matches and qualifying for the World Cup.”
