It looks like a pebble, it works like a pebble, but don’t call it a pebble. Eric Migicovsky, the original creator of Pebble’s intelligent clock, simply discovered two new intelligent hours – called Duo Core 2 and The Core Time 2.
These spiritual offspring of Smartwatches Pebble are available for pre-training, costing $ 149 and $ 225, respectively.
If you are not familiar with Pebble, Palo Alto-based start was one of the first successes of the advancement of the Kickstarter crowds platform all the way for 2012. The company created Smartwatches before Apple Watch and Android-based Smartwatches existed.
As Pebble managed to sell over two million devices, the company was suddenly closed in 2016. After a bankruptcy process, what was left was bought by the Fitbit rival (now a Google split, of course).
Soon to 2024, Migicovsky had a bold idea: What if we could return to those simpler times and simpler technology devices? What if we could restore the spirit of pebbles?
Google has been surprisingly useful in the process as the technology giant is an open source of Pebleos, the operating system that enabled the original Pebble smartwatches.
While Google won a few years after Fitbit won Pebble’s assets, it turns out that Pebble’s IP was not worth it, so the company decided to return to the Pebble enthusiast community.
Now, the main equipment, the new Migicovsky company, has revealed two new intelligent hours to run Pebbleos.
Duo core 2 is essentially a new Pebble 2 that runs the original Pebble software.
It has an ever -heated paint screen with several buttons on the side of the device. Compared to other intelligent hours of 2025, it is quite fundamental. That ink screen is a non-port, black and white screen. But the intelligent clock supports alarms and timer – staggering, I know.
The pairsfires worn with your phone using Bluetooth so they can display notifications and connect to the Internet. You can also check the music on your phone thanks to the Bluetooth connection.
But the two things that made Pebble leave its descendants are still true today. First, the battery life is excellent. The company promises up to 30 days of battery life. Second, it is a fun, hacking device. There are thousands of observation blames and it is easy to create small appliances for the device.
“This project is a love job than a startup trying to sell millions of hours,” Migicovsky wrote in a blog post announcing the equipment. “There may be some approximate ends (literally). Things will be delayed. Some traits will not be ready in departure. Things can break down. Things cannot last as long as you want.”
“The only thing we can guarantee is that it will be great and a lot of fun! Whenever you look at your watch, you will smile,” he added.
The other company of Smartwatch Migicovsky announced today, The Core Time 2, essentially shares the same specifications as Duo Core 2, but it has a larger screen, with 64 colors in a metal layer. Also a touch screen, but pebble applications do not support touch -touch interactions for now.
Migicovsky says shipments for Duo Core 2 should start in July.
Essential time 2 will last a little longer to produce and send; It is planned to be available in December.
