US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he would not mind if the liberal party won the upcoming Canadian elections and says: “I would rather deal with a liberal than a conservative.”
Trump has taken Canada to a strong attitude that imposed Canadian imports tariffs and repeatedly threatens to make it the 51st US state.
During an interview about Fox News’s The Ingraham angleHost Laura Ingraham pointed out that Trump’s treatment of Canada could drive the leading liberals to win the next election and to conduct a government that is hostile to the United States
“I don’t care,” replied Trump. “I think it’s easier to win with a liberal and maybe you won’t really be interested. I don’t really care.”
Trump then aimed at the conservative party leader Pierre Poilievre.
“The conservative that runs is not a friend of mine. I don’t know him, but he said negative things,” he said. “If he says negative things, I could no less interest.”
These earlier comments that Trump made about the conservative leader, including the claim that PiLievre is “not a Maga type”.
The liberals, which were elected Prime Minister since Justin Trudeau in 2015, looked at the conservatives a few weeks ago in the event of an election that must be held by October 20, to a certain defeat against the conservatives.
But with a new guide, the party is increasing a large comeback of the recent prime minister Mark Carney.
Some most recent polls have shown that the liberals close the gap or even before the conservatives.
The liberals have portrayed PiLievre as a right -wing populist in the same way as Trump.
Poilievre took over the slogan “Canada First” in view of the US threats and tried to tie Carney to the former Trudeau government.
The Conservative Party of Canada and the Liberal Party of Canada did not immediately respond to inquiries about comments.
