Stephen Bunting’s resurrection continued with an 8-5 victory over Nathan Asinall in the final of international arrows open to searching for his second title on German soil in four days.
‘The Bullet’ arrested an eight -match run on Thursday in Berlin to light his Premier League campaign and brought the momentum to Ria, where he secured a European tournament title.
The 39-year-old founded a 3-1 early lead in the final only for Aspart to level the two-end Bullseye competition, including a stunning 130 crate.
Aspotinall looked at the course to look for a consecutive European tournament title after his European Darts trophy victory in March, but Bunting found another outfit to quench his opponent’s hopes.
Earlier at night, Bunting competed in a 6-2 quarter-final victory over Karel Sedlacek to place a semifinal collision with Luke Humphries and then produced some sensational arrows in an exciting 7-6 victory over world No. 1.
Aspart ousted the last three winners of the tournament – Gerwyn Price (twice) and the protection of the champion Martin Schindler – going on his way to the finals, but he could not repeat his victory in Gottingen.
Bunting: Can I play here every week?
Bunting said PDC TV: “Can I play here every week? I like to come to Germany and play in front of these fans – and it’s extra special that is leaving with a trophy.
“People were writing to me, I knew I was playing well in the Premier League. I felt it was only a matter of time, but the longer it went on, the harder it became. The Premier League was a massive catalyst of what I have done in recent days.
“I know I have moved to world 4, which is massive to me. I will simply continue to play.” I’m leadproof, nothing to lose, fire away, fire away, “this is what I’m about thick and thin I always find a way. Thankfully I was about to find a way in this final.
“Thankfully I got that victory over Nathan and continued to win the night in Berlin, it was absolutely beautiful. I came here immediately from the back of this, the faith was high, and I continued to win this. This is extra special.
Asinall: I finished steam
Askinal said PDC TV: “I got out of the steam. My arm is absolutely … Stephen owes me a lot of credit, I helped him win his first Premier League title and European title!
“Up to two weeks ago, I made a final in 10 years, and I just made the back-back finals, so I’m proud of myself. My arm is absolutely … Yes!”
