After many years of passionate demands for an Oscar that recognized the art of stunt, the film academy has decided to award him an official prize.
A performance in the Stunt design price will be added starting with the 100th Academy Awards in 2028, which will recognize the films published in 2027, the film academy announced on Thursday.
“Stunt design has been an integral part of filmmaking since the early days of the cinema,” said Bill Kramer, CEO of Academy, and the President of the Academy, Janet Yang, in a joint explanation.

Stunt designer is a relatively new name. For his work on The autumn manO’Hara was the first person to be credited as such.
“Hopefully to see the film community as a stunt designer brings more light into what we really do,” said O’Hara of Associated Press in 2024.
“In the past, the cowboys were stunt. Now we are creative. We create amazing things, just like a production designer or a costume designer.”
The Oscars paid tribute to the Stunt community with a video montage at the 2024 ceremony and look back on over 100 years of Hollywood stunts from Chaplin and Keaton to Hollywood -Stunts Mission: impossible And The matrix.
Other awards were ahead of the curve to celebrate Stunts: the Emmys Honors Stunt Coordination and Stunt Performance, while the Screen Actors Guild Awards recognize stunt ensembles on television and film.
