The World Snooker Championship Runner twice Ali Carter will return to The Crucible in 2025 after you have come through qualification

The World Snooker Championship finalist Ali Carter booked his return to The Crucible with a 10-5 win over China He Guoqiang in qualification.

The 45-year-old Englishman opened a four-frame lead, but had to produce a 72 break to stop the level of his opponent after winning the other three.

From 5-3, Carter continued to win five of the other seven, with a break of 57, 74, 68 and 69 – striking the air and shouting “enter inside” after sinking the last black victory to clinking.

After his victory Carter revealed that he was on the verge of abandoning the qualification two days ago.

“I’ve just had a terrible pain in my neck, to the extent I was harassing pain playing against Ian Burn (in the last round) and if I went 6-3 later I would be seriously withdrawn,” he told Wst Play.

“I was in agony and it is not yet. It was not a good quality performance from any extension, but I’m in the next stage.”

Another former finalist twice at The Crucible, Matthew Stevens, was less lucky, losing in the last round of qualification in Wu yize.

Stevens expired from 10-9, losing a final frame decision maker while Matthew selt Apologized to opponent Jimmy Robertson after his 10-9 victory after returning from 8-3 down.

“I have to apologize and say bad Jimmy. He told me something after one of the frames I won, he said I was distracted and put it out,” he said.

“So this victory has no good feeling towards him. Jimmy is, and it was, one of my closest friends, so that he could feel so hard to pull me on one side and say something I feel absolutely terrible to be completely honest with you.

“I make a lot of comments when I’m playing.

Another obvious result from the last day of qualification was Jackson Page’s 10-7 loss Joe O’Connor. The site had made the story earlier in qualification when it was done First player to hit two 147 in the same match.
