An aggressive sea lion sent surfers ran this week after she repeatedly went after them, even entering the beach, the video of the incident said.
The sea lion was suffering from the severe Domoic acid, which was caused by an unprecedented flowering of toxic algae in the area affecting the animal brain, making them more aggressive, experts said, Fox 11 reported.
It has touched thousands of sea lions and other sea life in the area, killing more dolphins than in previous years and at least two whales.

“These Domoic acid events are becoming larger and worse and more frequent,” the John Warner station, CEO of the Marine Mammary Care Center, told John Warner. “This is terrible. How long can all these species take this type of abuse and be with us still? That’s the question, and I don’t know the answer to that.”
In addition to domoic acid, the flowering of toxic algae also becomes ill with sea life with saxoxin, which causes paralytic shellfish poisoning.

“They are jumping into them, some of the worst things they may experience,” Warner added to the sick sea lions and other animals, “and they are not feeling well.”
Last summer, a pair of sea lions were caught in the video accusing on the beach further south on the La Jolla beach of San Diego County. This incident came during the breeding season.
