Chris Eubank JR said his 12 -round deceitful victory over Conor Benn was inspired by his father, who made a stunning surprise appearance just hours before the war.
Eubanks have left, and have barely spoken to each other in recent years, but 35 years after Eubank Sr faced Nigel Benn, he arrived with his son at Tottenahm Hotspur Stadium and they made an emotional bell together.
The appearance, which came without warning, was gladly enjoyed by the 65,000 London fans, who were dealt with in a new chapter in the Rivalality of the Eubank Vs Benn family, with Eubank Jr finally coming out as a unanimous decision.
Eubank Jr. won the 116-112 war in all the results of the judges and said his success withdrew his father’s legacy.
“The fact that our fathers did it all those years ago brings another spirit to you and that is what we showed here tonight,” he said.
“I am happy to have returned this man (Eubank Sr) with me. He had to be here. All this is because of what he did.
“We support the name of the family. Hence and above.”
Eubank JR, who is seven years older than his opponent, was taken to hospital for preliminary checks after the war and was badly cut in the ninth round.
His father celebrated with him in the ring after the war and described his performance as “legendary”.
“He couldn’t move around the ring and so he had to stand up. This is legendary behavior in the ring. Legendary.
“Conor Benn is an extraordinary warrior. He has gone in the form of pears somewhere, but an extraordinary warrior.
“I thought he would burst into four out of five rounds, he was going hard on the right track during the war.
“I’m very proud. This is my son. I would always be here.”
Benn hopes for Eubanks reconciliation
Conor Benn hugged Eubank Sr in the ring behind the last bell and insisted that the surprise appearance was positive for the event.
An emotional benn, who was comforted by his father in the ring after the decision was announced, now hopes the duet to agree.
“I looked at Chris Senior, I grabbed him by the neck and said ‘friend, I’m very happy to be here, I’m very happy to come back,” he said.
“Out of everything else, all the noise and promotion and war, the relationship with your father never goes.
“This is always there. That’s long. I will choose relationships with my dad over boxing every day of the week.
“If this has joined them two, it is worth its weight in gold.”
