Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly believes the gunners are ready for the challenge of confronting Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semifinals thanks to their “genius” boss Mikel Artesa.
Gunners are preparing for a special night at the Emirates Stadium as they prepare for the first match of their champions League semi -final against French champions on Tuesday.
Arsenal last played in a 2009 Champions League semifinal and their only appearance at the European Club Prime Competition arrived three years ago when they suffered a 2-1 loss to Barcelona.
Lewis-Skelly, who has enjoyed a season of stellar progress in North London, insists his team ready for the case waiting for PSG and says there will be “no excuses” entering the game.
“As a team, we are prepared and ready,” said Lewis-Skelly Heavenly.
“We are in good shape currently and we are excited to play PSG because they are in good shape as well.
“It will be a good challenge for us because they are in good shape and have a full team out.
“There are no excuses that go into the game. We’re ready.”
Lewis-Skelly’s belief has a lot of links to the coach of the Gunners Arts.
The 18-year-old appreciated the entirety of art and insists there is so much to learn from his manager.
“His attention to the details is extraordinary,” he said.
“I like to learn so to learn from him and the way he treats and approaches the games, it’s interesting. There is so much I can get from him.
“He’s a genius really.”
‘Spend on the left a smooth process’
Part of this teaching process for Lewis-Skelly is adapted to a new role.
His extraordinary growth this season has come to the left, despite the fact that he has come through the Gunners Academy as a midfielder, and is a trip he has enjoyed.
“It’s been a quiet process because I like to learn and I like to improve,” he said.
“This follow -up to learn every day and grow up, I like to ask questions. If I don’t know the answer I will still be sure to ask the question.
“It was a quiet process for me because I am definitely midfielder from trade, but the position was not unnatural to me.
“I liked it.”
Do you miss playing in midfield?
“Because of our play style, I tend to get inside some of the time,” he said. “I will play wherever the manager needs me, and it is important to be versatile.
“The main players in the world are able to occupy different positions.
“So, for me, I will do whatever it takes to be in the team.”
‘The person I am done is due to Hale End’
This season has been a great success story for the Arsenal Academy at Hale End with Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri joining the first team.
Directed by former defender for mertesacker, the Academy has also produced the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe in recent seasons.
“The person I am done is because of Hale End, they arouse good values in you,” said Lewis-Skelly.
“It allows you to handle the step up to the first team because at our Academy it is in DNA to produce players for the first team.
“For example, Nathan Butler-Yoyedeji made his premier League debut this week. By David Rocastle to Eddie Nketiah to reprint Nelson to Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, is something our club value and we are all together.”
Is there even more to come from the Academy?
He added: “There is a max (Dowman) coming through, but it’s not just him. There will be someone who comes because he is in the DNA to have players to produce. Everyone will come in their time.”
Lewis-Skelly in Nwaneri: ‘He’s my brother’
Nwaner made his first debut of the team for Arsenal aged 15 and 181 days in September 2022 to become the youngest player in the Premier League, but – like Lewis -skelly – it’s this season where he really made his mark.
And Lewis-Skelly believes it has been a real help for both players to have come together.
“It has been great because Ethan and I were friends from a young age,” he said.
“Our similar trips, joining, has been so good for us by supporting each other. Because we are from similar areas, we have been friends for so long. This is my brother.”
He added: “We are similar and opposite at the same time.
“I’m farther and I like to talk to people. He’s more serious, but after getting to know him he’s a good guy.”
Lewis-Skelly on that Bernabeu experience
Since entering the team, Lewis-Skelly has not been looked back.
Arsenal will go to Tuesday’s last tie, with the last confidence with confidence after their total 5-1 victory over Real Madrid.
Gunners won their first 3-0 match in Emirates before a 2-1 success at the Bernabeu in the second match, and while Declan Rice received many titles for his performances, Lewis-Selly produced screens that should be beyond his 18 years.
However, it is something that Arsenal fans are being used, even in the early phase of his career.
“I felt comfortable (at Bernabeu),” he said.
“I had the trust from my manager and my teammates, so it raised me. It allows me to trust myself because they believe in me.
“Helps a lot.”
When asked about what he was passing through his head playing at the Bernabeu for the first time and the realization of the confrontation of Real Madrid and the similar Kylian Mbappe and Jude Beeingham, he added: “I just wanted to be present at the moment, fully engaged when I am inside and putting them all inside.
“I wanted to remind myself that I would be here before, and I tried to stay calm and stay calm.
“The quieter you are, the clearer you think. That was my thought process.
“(Confronting Real Madrid and the best players) is something that during my journey I want to reach, to reach this level and beyond.
“The thought I was playing against those big names, we respect them very much because they can change the game at any moment, but we are not afraid of them.
“The fact that they can change the game; it is exciting for us defenders. We must always be focused and know that we can slip and in a separate second they can capitalize. For me, it’s exciting.”
‘Faith comes from preparation’
From the small sample size we have already seen from Lewis-Skelly, it is difficult to see what can diminish it.
To go with his progress in Arsenal and playing in bigger games like the one in the Bernabeu, there was also a debut in England and a goal at the first beginning.
Where does this belief come from and is it natural?
“Faith comes from my preparation,” he said.
“From Young, my mum has installed in me the positive psychology of the magazine, manifestation and gratitude. After all, believing you are the best.
“Something’s something I still work today. So if I look in a certain way or play in a certain way because I feel it in my mind. I have been there before.”
When asked about the magazine, he added: “I probably do it every day, morning and night, just to catch my thoughts.
“Visualization is also a great to me.
“Mental exam and always thinking about the other thing or taking the time to be present and visualizing what you want and what you want to be as a person.”
Lewis-Skelly football dreamsndrrat
Something something that seems to be staying in a good place in his short Arsenal career so far, but what are the dreams and goals for Lewis-Skelly in the long run?
“I want to work my potential,” he said. “I just want to be the best version for me every day.
“I feel like it would take me to a good position in this industry.
“I just want to be a sponge and get everything, becoming the best version I can.”
And dreams about Arsenal?
“So special (the situation we are in).
“We just want to continue to pressure and the next opportunity is to win the Champions League.
“That’s what our minds are in.
“Just win. We have to do the best we can.”
