The estranged husband of an Australian woman who was accused of murdering three of his older relatives with a meal with deadly mushrooms, told a court on Thursday that her relationship was increasingly tense in the year before death.
The 50-year-old Erin Patterson is being reduced in one case because of the murders of her mother-in-law Gail Patterson, the father-in-law Donald Patterson, and the sister of Gail, Heather Wilkinson, in a case in which Australia was reduced.
After a lunch with beef Wellington, potato puree and green beans, all four were sick, the farm heard. The prosecutors claim that the defendant laced the meal with highly toxic mushrooms in her house in Leongatha, a city with around 6,000 people about 135 kilometers from Melbourne.
Erin Patterson denies the indictment, with her defense saying that deaths are a “terrible accident”.
Repeatedly rejected
Erin’s husband Simon Patterson cried when he told the Supreme Court of the Victoria relationships between the couple, which had separated in 2015 with a visible separate, and worsened at the end of 2022 when he listened to a tax return.
The decision triggered a system of child support payments, which means that Simon Patterson no longer paid the private work fees of her two children directly, he said.
“I was sure that she was very upset about it,” he told the court.
He repeated the invitations to lunch for lunch for lunch, including one on July 29, 2023, when the murders allegedly took place, and said he felt uncomfortable when he was present.
The accused told the husband that she had prepared a special meal for the group
The court heard on Wednesday that the accused had lied for cancer and organized lunch to discuss how best to tell her two children about the illness what the public prosecutor’s office used to ensure that the children did not take part and eat the poisoned meal.
The defense does not contest the accused about cancer.
The text messages between Simon and Erin Patterson said in court that the accused had noticed his decision not to “really disappointingly” because they had spent considerable time and money preparation amount and money for the group.
Simon Patterson said that the accused showed him and his family considerable generosity and borrowed hundreds of thousands of dollars to his siblings to buy or build real estate. She also had good relationships with the deceased, he added.
The case has seen an intensive interest in Australian and international media, with Podcasters, journalists and documentary filmmakers in the city of Morwell, about two hours east of Melbourne in which the attempt is held.
The attempt should be carried out by the beginning of June.
