Anthony Joshua revealed that he would need surgery to solve an elbow injury.
He expects the procedure to keep it not to return to training for six to eight weeks.
Joshua has not boxed since he suffered a overwhelming knockout loss to the IBF champion Daniel Dubois last September.
But the former unified title intends to return to sports.
“When do you want me back?” Said Joshua when talking to Dazn. “I’m trying to get my body properly. I have to actually do a little surgery on my elbow.
“A little operation somewhere in May. I’m finishing the details,” he continued. “It will see me from the gym for perhaps six to eight weeks, and then when I recover. I’ll be back.”
It means that Joshua will only boxing once in 2025.
Speculation is increasing that Joshua can eventually fight Tyson Fury’s long rival in a non-title period later this year.
Fury, who announced his pension earlier this year, has posted his own footage with Sugarhill Steward on social media which suggests he is still training himself.
Promoter Frank Warren said Heavenly: “It is up to Tyson (if he returns). He may want to do it, if he does it will go to his choice. I will not go in any way to try to do it.”
“All down to Tyson, the deal. We’re ready,” said Joshua promoter Eddie Hearn Heavenly. “But there is no point calling it because he will take a man to say let’s give the world the biggest struggle in boxing. And we live in the hope that he (rage) decides to do it.
“(Fury’s boxing training) this is a good sign. I’m sure he’ll get bored soon. Let’s hope he wants to make the biggest struggle in boxing.”
‘What else would it be?’
Carl Frampton, a boxing expert and former two-weight world champion, thinks Fury should return, with Joshua his most likely target.
“Looks like it is not. It looks like he is returning. Why would the next training with Sugarhill?” Frampton told sThis sports.
“It should be (for a Joshua) fight. What else would it be?”
