Nvidia has completed the acquisition of Run:ai, an Israeli startup that helps manage and optimize AI hardware infrastructure.
As part of the merger, Run:ai said its software, which currently only works with Nvidia products, will be open source, meaning Nvidia rivals such as AMD and Intel will be able to adapt it. that for their hardware.
“We are eager to build on the achievements we have achieved so far, expand our talented team and increase our productivity and market reach,” Run:ai told Bloomberg in a statement. “Open sourcing the software will enable it to expand its availability throughout the AI ecosystem.”
Nvidia announced its intention to acquire Run:ai in April. At the time, sources told TechCrunch that the price was $700 million. But the deal ran into regulatory hurdles. The European Commission and the US Department of Justice launched separate investigations into whether the Nvidia acquisition would harm competition.
The European Commission approved the deal in December.
