Hoda Kotb has often talked about how her loved ones have defined her life — especially her daughters, Haley and Hope.
of today Anchor became a mother when she adopted her little ones in 2017 and 2019, respectively, with her then-partner, Joel Schiffman. The former couple got engaged after six years of dating in 2019, before calling it quits in 2022.
When it comes to raising her children, Hoda has often trusted her mother, Sameha Kotbfor inspiring her approach to parenting. “She was a great mother. She was strict,” she said today in 2016. “This is how we lived. You understood what he didn’t mean. There was no ‘But everyone else is doing it.’ She couldn’t care less what anyone else was doing.”
After her split from Schiffman, Hoda discussed the lessons she was trying to instill in Haley and Hope.
“I think one thing I want to work on with my daughters as well is for them to have their own voice,” she exclusively said. Us Weekly in November 2022. “(Teaching them about) being brave enough to say what they need, what they want, and not feel greedy, or too much, or too bossy. … I think I want my girls to be more vocal and say what they want and not be afraid and not try to fit in with what other people want.”
