FOX Business host Larry Kudlow reacts to Rep. Mike Johnson’s re-election as speaker of the House in ‘Kudlow’.
High noon for Chairman Mike Johnsonand that’s the theme of the riff.
It was midday drama on the floor of the House of Representatives as Michael Johnson was finally re-elected Speaker of the 119th Congress by a vote of 218–215.
It might be a little difficult, but the whole thing reminded me of the great cowboy movie “High Noon” – with Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly. Cooper won an Oscar for his role, where he had to clean up the bad guys and, in fact, at the end of the movie, he shoots the worst criminal in town.
It wasn’t exactly like that on the House floor today, but in the end, Mike Johnson was able to convince dozens of GOP rebels, including President Trump’s friendly persuasion for the last two seats. So the Gary Cooper metaphor isn’t accurate, but you get the picture.
ECONOMIST WARNS AMAZON, STARBUCKS BOOTS COULD ‘BURST’
Former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway gives her take on Reputation Mike Johnson’s re-election as Speaker of the House on ‘Kudlow’.
Speaker Johnson delivered a strong acceptance speech following the final result – touching on key elements of President Trump’s mandate for change agenda. Here is one of them:
Speaker JOHNSON: We will act quickly and start by protecting our nation’s borders. This is priority number one. yes. | We will deport dangerous criminals, illegal aliens, and finally finish building the border wall.
The speaker then moved right into pro-growth tax cuts. Listen to it:
JOHNSON: After four years of high inflation, we have a big agenda. | We can fight high inflation and we must. We will give relief to Americans and extend Trump’s tax cuts.
Unfortunately, when President Trump takes office, he will be stuck with the remains of Bidenflation – caused in part by Biden’s crazy, lame, last-minute spending and a Federal Reserve that is mistakenly cashing in on Biden’s deficits by lowering interest rates and inflating the money supply.
If Mr. Trump’s supply-side tax cuts and deregulation are not implemented quickly, this new year of 2025 could prove very disappointing for the broad working-class coalition that gave Mr. Trump such a big electoral victory.
That’s why the new Congress must move immediately to pass what some sources close to President Trump are calling “a nice big bill.” This would include tax cuts, border closures, DOGE spending cuts, energy deregulation and a “peace through strength” defense component.

Let’s not waste time — like what happened in 2017. Start right away with a big, nice fiscal reconciliation package. Complete it by the middle of the year at the latest.
This will conquer the Bidenflation and bring about a much needed, blue collar boom. This is the riff.
