The chief executive of the British US tobacco can get up to 18.2 million or a year in a new payment agreement, making it one of the highest chiefs of FTSE profit while large UK companies move to narrow the gap of salaries with American rivals.
Rothmans and Lucky Strike’s cigarette brand manufacturer said in his annual report on Friday that based on a newly proposed stimulating scheme, Tadeu Maroco would maximize 50 percent increase in three years.
Maroco, who has been the chief executive since May 2023, will be guaranteed a minimum of £ 1.8m in salary, pension and benefits per year, the company said. He received £ 6m in total last year.
The new Maroco agreement comes as some major companies ranked in the UK have increased the salary for senior executives to try to compete with the US, where the income may be much higher.
London Stock Exchange Group last year secured shareholders’ agreement to double the salary of Chief David Schwimmer to a maximum of £ 13.1 million. Astrazenca also gained approval for a salary increase for its executive chief Pascal Soriot, potentially increasing its £ 18.7 million and the chief executive of Smith & Nephew will receive up to $ 11.8 million this year if all objectives are met, a 29 for 29 Cent growth to its previous maximum.
“The increasingly competitive global market for old talent has resulted in high payroll pressure… With many US -based candidates we find that salary inequalities are particularly evident with incentive opportunities, which tend to be far above that typical UK levels, ”Bat said in its annual report.
She added that one -third of her old employment in the last three years had been from the US and that she had “an elevated rate of vacancies at high management levels, with time of extension to T ‘ u hired. ”
Shareholders will vote for the new salary agreement, which was first reported in Sunday Times, at the company’s annual general meeting in April.
