Your guide to what the 2024 American elections mean for Washington and the world
Deloitte US has asked employees working on government contracts to remove gender pronouns from their email signatures and have dismissed its broader programs of diversity and inclusion, in the last sign of companies shifting their policies after Donald Trump’s choice.
Consultants at the Big Four firm working for the US government were questioned last week to remove pronouns showing their gender from e -mail sent from abroad, according to people familiar with the details.
In an email for staff at about 15,000 government and public service practices, employees were asked to make the changes “to approximate the practices and demands of developing government clients”.
A special email sent Monday and the first by Financial Times said Deloitte US will also “set” its goals of diversity, a report of annual diversity, capital and inclusion, and the “programming” of the dei.
Deloitte US is the latest firm to update policies that affect politically sensitive issues after Accenture abolished its global diversity goals and specific demographic career programs last week, citing a “evaluation” of the new US political landscape.
In one of his first acts to return to the White House last month, Trump led federal agencies to clear all references to “gender ideology” from their communications.
The guidance was part of an executive order aimed at “restoring the biological truth to the federal government” which stated that it would be the policy of the US government to recognize only two genders in all official documents and messages.
While the order did not direct private companies to take specific actions, it mandated that government agencies provide “Federal funds will not be used to promote gender ideology” and for agencies to consider “beneficiary preferences” when entering contracts.
The change would require a review of federal contracts to make sure they were “not being given in a way to promote gender ideology,” a White House official told the journalists at the time.
In last week’s email for its US government consultants, Deloitte provided a new signature model for employees to create until February 7, according to the people who received the message.
In a special email this week, Deloitte US said it will remove its Dei programs after “a detailed review of all important government directives to ensure that we respect”.
The accounting and counseling firm had previously set out a set of DEI intentions intended to meet by 2025, including spending $ 200 million with “black -led businesses” and increasing gender balance and ethnic diversity of partners’ partners its, managing directors and directors.
The firm will continue to develop several initiatives including the events of the month of inheritance, ethnic internal networks and “inclusion tips”, Email added, and would continue to improve employment practices to make them “right and not discriminatory. ”
“Everyone is welcome in Deloitte,” the message reads, asking the staff to “please take care of each other.”
Deloitte US confirmed that the instructions for email signatures were given to staff in its government and the practice of public services, but refused to comment on Dei’s objectives.
“As a US government contractor, we have a long record of compliance with new government demands,” he added.
The White House and the Management and Budget Office, which oversees expenses by government agencies, did not respond to commentary requests.
