Your guide to what the 2024 American elections mean for Washington and the world

Dan Bongino, right -wing commentator and Podcaster who has promoted conspiracy theory about the outcome of the 2020 elections and US Capitol attack, has been elected by President Donald Trump as FBI deputy director.

Bongino, who hosts a popular pro-trump podcast and has been regularly appearing on Fox News, will serve under Pettel, who swore as the ninth director of the highest federal law enforcement agency in the US last week.

Bongino was one of the right podcasters, who, along with Joe Rogan’s likes, was considered instrumental by media commentators to help Trump arrive at the White House last year.

The former secret service agent used his podcast, Dan BonginoTo discuss conspiracy theories about the January 6, 2021 attack on Capitol, including raising questions on FBI involvement. He was suspended from YouTube in 2022 after posting disinformation on the use of masks in preventing Covid-19 spread.

Bongino has been waiting for Trump in his daily Podcast, and regularly promoted the president while often attacking “libs” and former leader Joe Biden, calling him the “worst president in US history”. He was also one of the commentators who actively challenged the outcome of the 2020 presidential competition, which Trump lost to Biden.

Trump said Sunday evening that Bongino would be named in the role by Patel. The president called him “a man of extraordinary love and passion for our country”, saying on Sunday that he was “ready and prepared to give up his” podcast “in order to serve”.

The new time of the FBI told social media: “Thank you Mr. President, Prosecutor General (PAM) BONDI and director Patel.” His appointment does not need to be confirmed by the Senate.

Bongino has worked for the New York Police Department and in the details of defense for Presidents George W Bush and Barack Obama. He has also made three unsuccessful runs for the Congress.

The measure will increase the fears of the Democrats that the president may target his political opponents by strengthening his holding at the main federal law enforcement agency.

The Deputy Director of the FBI is traditionally a post given to a career agent, rather than a president’s political ally to assist the director of the agency every day.

Bongino was a loud critic of defense around Trump while attempting to kill last year.

Bongino, along with internet influencers such as Adin Ross and Nelk Boys, were praised for mobilizing the younger voters, “Bro-Culture” for Trump, with their channels on YouTube and Podcasts winning millions and billions more Many as clips on social media.

Chris Pavlovski, Rumble chief executive, the video sharing platform that has been waiting for Bongino’s videos since 2020, said Bongino would withdraw as the Creator of Content while he served in FBI. Bongino is also a shareholder in Rumble.

Pavlovski described Bongino as “a pioneer and a free speech fighter”. Rumble said he looked “forward for his return when this other phase of his service in his place is completed.”
