Let’s quickly re-elect Speaker Mike Johnson so we can move the Trumpian blue-collar boom agenda along quickly. This is the theme of the riff. Last Monday, President Donald Trump issued a resounding endorsement for the re-election of Speaker Mike Johnson.
In Social Truth, Mr. Trump wrote: “The American people need immediate relief from all the destructive policies of the past administration. Speaker Mike Johnson is a good, hard-working, religious man. He will do the right thing and we Mike will continue to earn my full MAGA.
Then, on New Year’s Eve, walking at his Mar-a-Lago gala, Mr. Trump reiterated his support for Speaker Johnson. Listen to it:
IRS SETS NEW TAX BREAKS, INCREASE STANDARD DEDUCTION FOR 2025
DONALD TRUMP: “Oh, I think they’re going to support Speaker Johnson. I think we’re going to have a good time in Washington, and I think we’re going to get a lot of support. He’s the one who can win right now. People like him. Almost everybody likes him.”
Add former Speaker Newt Gingrich to the list of Johnson’s endorsements, who said in an interview that Republicans should not waste time with an ugly fight on the floor and that the GOP should stand behind the current Speaker: “They need a program republican unity for the next 2 years”.
Any number of GOP stars have endorsed Mike Johnson for Speaker – and happily, let me add my name to the list. He is a supporter of the pro-growth bid tax cuts. He is a fierce hawk when it comes to closing the border, stemming the flood of illegal Biden immigration and rooting out terrorism here at home. He is a man of law and order. He is for “drill, kids, drill” and believes in Trump’s “Peace through Strength” foreign policy.
In other words, Speaker Johnson is a common sense conservative and he has been incredibly accessible to the media. Tomorrow the Assembly will meet to start the 119th Congress with the election of the Speaker of the House as the first order.
I would remind people that on Monday, January 6, the House must vote to certify the presidential election, but without a speaker, the House cannot certify. If the House, along with the Senate, cannot certify, then President-elect Trump may not become President Trump on January 20. Think about it! So this is not the time to relax. The GOP House and Senate must hit the ground running.
According to top advisers to President Trump, he wants to see “a big, beautiful bill” on his desk from both houses of Congress as soon as possible. This bill would include tax cuts, border closures, fossil fuel reform and licensing, and a “peace through strength” defense push.
During the campaign, Mr. Trump’s working-class coalition was repeatedly promised fatter wallets, increased paychecks, tax cuts, cheaper energy, closing borders, and so on. Promises made, promises kept. A big, beautiful reconciliation bill to combine all fiscal policy issues — requiring only a 51-vote majority in the Republican Senate.

Let the blue-collar boom begin immediately. The House has already passed HR1. on energy, and HR2. on immigration. Congressman Jason Smith’s Ways and Means Committee has been working on the Trumpian tax cuts for most of the past year.
Senator Mike Crapo is ready to deliver a major tax cut from his Senate finances Committee. The entire bill could be done before midyear and would help President Trump fulfill his sweeping mandate for change.
