Your guide to what the 2024 American elections mean for Washington and the world
Vladimir Putin has ordered the Russian army to refrain from the infrastructure of the Ukrainian stroke for 30 days, but has not stopped agreeing with an unconditional ceasefire.
Kremlin said the Russian president had “positively reacted” to a suggestion of US President Donald Trump to stop attacks in a highly expected call between two leaders on Tuesday.
She added that Putin “immediately gave the Russian army the corresponding order”.
In Sunday’s comments, Trump had suggested that both “land” and “power plants” be divided between Kyiv and Moscow into any final resolution of peace, a seemingly reference to Ukrainian assets currently occupied by Russia.
But instead of agreeing with the US president’s proposal for a 30-day unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine, Putin highlighted a “series of significant issues” regarding the implementation of such an agreement and “serious risks” regarding the compliance of Kyiv.
In a post on social truth on Tuesday, Trump described the talks with Putin as “very good and productive”.
He added: “Many elements of a peace contract were discussed … that process is now in full effect and effect, and we hope, for the sake of mankind, to do the work done.”
Readings from the call did not provide any indication that Putin was ready to compromise for his maximum purposes to end the war, which has to end the existence of Ukraine as an independent state as it rolls most of the NATO expansion in the east of the former iron -ore.
Kremlin said that Putin stressed that “Russia’s main situation to stop conflict escalate” and move towards a solution would be a “complete end of foreign military support and the division of intelligence with this”.
Last week, Kyiv was signed in Trump’s 30-day ceasefire after pressure from Washington, who had suspended military aid and intelligence sharing.
According to the reading, Putin said on Tuesday that he was ready to work with the US to end the war, but insisted that any agreement should “consider the unconditional necessity to remove the initial reasons for Russia’s legal security”.
Reading added that Moscow and Washington would create groups of experts to work on bilateral paths for a ceasefire.
The White House said both presidents had “agreed to this conflict should end with a lasting peace” and “emphasized the need for improved bilateral relations between the United States and Russia.”
She added that they had “agreed that the movement for peace would begin with a ceasefire of energy and infrastructure”, with “technical negotiations” to begin in the implementation of a “black sea ceasefire”, followed by talks on a “full ceasefire and permanent peace”.
Asked about the call, a senior Ukrainian official involved in peace negotiations said a ceasefire of energy infrastructure was “the only realistic proposal because, after all, Putin wants war”.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy initially sailed the possibility of a ceasefire in the Energy Goals attacks in October, saying it could pave the way for wider peace talks.
Ukrainian senior official added that Kyiv had asked the White House for “complete information” about calling with Putin and was waiting for a response.
Kremlin said Putin had reacted “positively” to Trump’s proposal for maritime maritime safety and agreed to hold further talks on the issue.
She added that the two leaders discussed a “wide spectrum of guidelines” where the US and Russia can cooperate further, including “useful mutual partnerships in economics and energy”.
Putin and Trump also discussed the Middle East and said they would make “joint efforts to stabilize the situation in crisis areas” as well as “creating cooperation” for nuclear dissemination and global security, Kremlin said.
Trump also accepted Putin’s suggestion that Russia and the US each international ice hockey hockey presenting players from both countries added the Kremlin.
Zelenskyy said Kyiv would support the proposal to suspend strikes in the energy infrastructure, but said the conditions had attached to Putin in a full military ceasefire indicated that his goal was to weaken Ukraine.
The Ukrainian leader claimed that Russia was preparing new attacks, indicating what he said was a construction of forces on the border with the northern region of Ukraine Sumy.
Speaking at a press press conference held immediately after the statements of the White and Kremlin house, Zelenskyy said he would really like President Trump to hear and see what Putin wants. ”
Tuesday’s call followed a conversation between Trump and Putin in February that began the US president’s efforts to mediate a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.
Over the past month, Trump has put heavy pressure on zelenskyy to make concessions and negotiate a solution with Putin.
The US president has been criticized both domestically and internationally to be much less wanted for his Russian counterpart, though he has threatened to impose additional sanctions on Russia if Putin fails to engage in peace talks.
Trump promised to complete the war in Ukraine throughout his 2024 presidential campaign, placing him at the head of his foreign policy plans for his second term.
