Anti -terrorism police are investigating if a fire at Prime Minister Sir Starmer’s North London’s home in North London in the early hours of Monday is linked to the other two flames.
Fire in the four -bedroom home of the Starmer family in Kentish Town, which the prime minister rented for tenants after moving to 10 Downing Street in July last year, caused damage to the entrance of the property, Metropolitan police said.
A MET spokesman later said Monday that a car set fire to the last few days in the same road in the city of Kentish as Starmer’s house. And an office building that has an connection to Starmer in the N7 postal code, which includes parts of Islington in northern London, also suffered a flame, the spokesman added.
It is not yet clear if the three fires are connected, but the anti -terrorism police are following it as a line of investigation, said a person acquainted with the matter.
Police do not believe that the fire at the Kentish city house of Starmer was started by an explosive device, but is still investigating the source of the flame, the person added.
The three fires with possible links to Starmer are likely to raise concerns within the government for a coordinated campaign against the prime minister.
The involvement of anti -terrorism officers, who are specialists in distinguishing the nature of a potential attack, is common when a high profile property is the subject of fire damage.
Met said in a statement: “On Monday, May 12 at 01:35 am, police were notified by the London Fire Brigade about reports of a fire at (Kentish Town).
“The officers attended the scene. The damage was caused to the entrance of the property, no one was injured. The fire is being investigated and the cords remain in the country as the investigation continues.”
The London Fire Brigade described the incident at Starmer’s house as a “small” flame “outside a property”, which was treated by two fire engines. “The brigade was called on 01.11 in the morning and the fire was under control until 01.33 in the morning,” she added.
A prime minister’s spokesman said he “thanks the emergency services for their work” but refused to comment further because of the police investigation.
Starmer’s house has been targeted by protesters in the past, including in connection with the Israeli-Hamas war in Gaza.
On Monday, Starmer announced a stroke of net migration, warning that Britain risked “an island of strangers” without further action.
The United Kingdom faces several threats, and Ken McCallum, the MI5 leader, warned in October that Russian spies were in a “mission to generate” on the streets of Britain and that Iran was inciting deadly plots in “a pace and unprecedented stairs”.
In June last year, three pro-fortinating protesters were found guilty of public order after demonstrating outside the Kentish city of Starmer.
The rows of children’s shoes were placed outside the property and a hanging flag calling for Starmer to “stop the murder” surrounded by red printings.
Mrs. Victoria Starmer, his wife, told magistrates that the protest in April last year, when her husband was leader of the opposition, had left her to feel “a little sick”.
During the general election campaign last year, Starmer transferred his family to a high -level apartment owned by the donor of Lord Waheed Alli, saying he wanted his son to be able to review for his exams without distraction.
