The US real estate market has another year in the books as 2024 closed this week.
While the average for which homes sold came in at $383,725 for the four weeks ending Dec. 22, according to Redfin, some transactions for U.S. homes fetched much higher amounts than that.
Redfin identified the homes that had the highest sales prices in 2024. The company told FOX Business that its list, which was previously reported by Forbes, only included sales that were public and listed on the MLS.
According to reports, during the year there were also several off-market transactions with eight figures and nine figures.
Properties that Redfin said saw the five largest sale prices in 2024 include:
House in Carpinteria, California: $96 million
The home, built in 2007, was bought over the summer, fetching a staggering $96 million, according to Redfin.
Five bedrooms and multiple bathrooms are part of the 9,000-square-foot residence.
The residence was “designed in the modest style of a Tuscan farmhouse,” said a description on Redfin.
Its area extends over 10 hectares, including many views over the water.
In the backyard there is a large swimming pool, according to the photos.

House in Aspen, Colorado: $77 million
The sale of the $77 million home in Aspen, Colorado called “The Ranch at Owl Creek” happened in April.
The property, which stretches over 60 acres, was described in its listing as a “mountain oasis” not far from Snowmass and Buttermilk, the area’s two popular ski resorts.
It’s filled with a “heated pool, two hot tubs, a stocked trout pond, an exercise pavilion, a movie theater and a wine cellar,” according to the listing.
Inside the home, there are eight bedrooms, including a “generous” master suite. There are as many full bathrooms and three half bathrooms. Six fireplaces can also be found throughout.

The modern-looking 12,500-square-foot house, which went for $72.25 million in Miami Beach, is located on the shores of Biscayne Bay. It has nine extraordinary bedrooms.
According to the listing, the home includes “maid/in-law suites.” There is also a wet bar and ‘godin/library/office’.
Its water lot is 0.58 acres, according to the listing.

Aspen was home to another of the properties that Redfin found one of the biggest sales prices of 2024.
The $66.5 million five-bedroom home was purchased in late April. Pitkin County assessor records listed a limited liability company as the new owner.
It was built on more than 9,000 square feet in downtown Aspen, according to Redfin.
Before the April transaction, the property last changed hands in 2022, when it sold for $20.5 million, according to public records.
House in Carpinteria, California: $65 million
The $65 million Carpinteria mansion, purchased in mid-November, consists of three lots on an oceanfront bluff, according to a property description on Redfin. The lots have about 12 acres combined.
The massive house was built with five bedrooms and nine bathrooms. Overall, it offers 10,900 square meters.
According to the description, the buyer can “enjoy direct access to Loon Point Beach, 24/7 guarded security and a unique opportunity to develop the two remaining lots to create the ultimate beachside heritage retreat.”
Carpinteria, where the estate is located, is about 11 miles east of Santa Barbara.
