The Ukrainian team is expected to introduce US officials with a proposal for a partial ceasefire in which Ukraine and Russia would be contained from long -range drone and missile attacks, energy attacks and civil infrastructure, and military activities in the Black Sea.
“Meeting with the American team started in a very constructive way. We are working towards a fair and lasting peace, ”said Andriy Yermak, a high assistant to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and leader of the Kyiv delegation in the telegram.
Ukraine has sought guarantees for its future security from the US, a promise that US President Donald Trump and his team have not been willing to do.
“The security guarantee is important because we never want this aggression to be repeated,” Yermak told reporters at the beginning of the talks. “Now we think it is necessary to discuss how to start this process.”
The talks, which began at noon in Jeddah, came while both Ukrainian and Russian forces launched fresh attacks on each other’s territory.
On Monday evening, authorities in Moscow reported that at least 91 Drone had been aiming for the Russian capital in one of the largest drone attacks on the city since Russia’s full occupation in 2022.
Ukrainian authorities also reported drone strikes in several regions of the country overnight.

The Supreme Diplomat of the US added on the eve of the talks that this should remove a territory in Russia as part of a peace agreement.
“The Russians cannot conquer all Ukraine, and it will undoubtedly be very difficult for Ukraine in any reasonable time to get a force for the Russians to return to the place where they were in 2014,” Rubio said, referring to the borders of Ukraine before the Kremlin’s annexation that year.
Mike Waltz, US National Security Advisor and Steve Witkoff, Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East, are joining Rubio in the American delegation.

Ukraine has rushed in the past 10 days to fix her ties with the Trump administration after a catastrophic meeting at the White House between Zelenskyy and the US president.
The dispute led Washington to delay the signing of a mineral agreement and pauses all military aid in Ukraine, including the division of intelligence on which KyIw is based on to hit Russian goals beyond the first line.
Witkoff told Fox News on Monday that the division of intelligence would be discussed in talks, but denied that Washington had stopped securing intelligence for protective purposes.
He also said that Zelenskyy had apologized for the White House argument in a letter sent to Trump.

The ban on US military aid coincided with a new Russian attack on the Kursk region, which was seized by Ukraine forces in August.
Ukraine said Russia had launched ballistic missiles and 126 kamikaze drones in some of its overnight regions as part of a nearly day attack campaign that lasted several weeks.
The Ukrainian drone attack on Russia killed two people and injured at least 14 others. Russia’s Ministry of Defense said it had registered 337 unmanned air vehicles across the country, including a strong attack in Moscow.
Images from capital divided on social media showed several high -fire apartment blocks and dozens of burnt vehicles. Officials claimed that all drones were shot by Russian air defenses.
