The world of skating is dealing with a great loss after American Airlines’ 5342 flight collapsed with numerous members of the community on board.
During a Thursday, January 30, press conference, CEO of the Boston skating club, Daug ZeghibeHe said “For the best of our knowledge, 14 skater returning home” from the US national figure championships in Wichita, Kansas, were killed on Wednesday, January 29.
Zeghibe explained “We have lost the family” and explained that the tragedy will have “long influences for our skating community”.
The Boston skating club sent 18 athletes to compete in the Wichita National Championship.
