Montag and the man Spencer Pratt lost their wealth as flames spread throughout Pacific Palisades on Tuesday, January 7th. The couple and their sons, Gunner, 6, and Ryker, 13 months, were safely evacuated earlier that day.
“The craziest thing when you’re packing for a fire is that your brain just goes crazy,” Montag, 38, shared via Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Jan. 8. What don’t I need?’ It is so overwhelming to pack a house. I mean, I only have two pairs of jeans, two shirts. I have a lot more clothes for the kids.”
Still, she asked herself, “Why didn’t I get more?”
As his eyes filled with tears, Montag said, “The main thing is that we are safe. I got out.” But in the moment, “you really just panic and then part of you (thinks), ‘I’m coming back.’ You know, ‘Of course I’m coming back for all (our stuff).’ So I am praying for everyone else going through this and for all my friends and loved ones. Thank God we have our health and our children – and I know it. Just trying to focus on gratitude. It just comes in waves.”

“The only positive sign I saw as our house burned down Is our son’s bed in the shape of a heart burnt”, he wrote, posting the images of Unaza’s camera from the nursery.
He continued: “A sign of great love in this house so grateful for all the years and memories there with our family.”
Spencer’s sister, Stephanie Prattwas the first to confirm the news.
“I don’t know if it’s a good thing I’m in London or if I should go back to LA, I can’t think straight. What should I do? Sincerely looking for advice. I’m frozen in shock,” Stephanie, 38, wrote via Instagram late Tuesday. “How terrible for my sweet little nephews to see their home disappear like this. They must be so scared and confused.”
In her Instagram Story, Stephanie noted that she was “beyond heartbroken” for her brother and their family.
“I just spoke to my dad – he tried to save my brother’s house but the wind was too strong. There was nothing he could do,” added Stephanie. “The fire station in Palisades also burned down. Pacific Palisades is completely on fire. Nobody is there.”
Stephanie further noted that the siblings’ parents were “safely evacuated” before watching their home burn through security camera footage.
“My parent’s house is gone,” Spencer wrote via Instagram Stories on Wednesday, sharing a photo of the wreckage and adding seven crying emojis.
