King jaime broke her silence to prove a “terrible” battle of custody with ex Kyle Newman Between their divorce.
“My job as a mother is to protect my children and that is all that matters to me,” said King, 45, during her appearance “Whine Down with Jana Kramer” on Thursday, April 10. “That’s scary.”
King told the host Jana kramerer That she was “really proud” marrying Newman, 49, at such a young age, but she has different feelings after their separation.
King and Newman were married in 2007. The weekly confirmed in May 2020 that she presented to divorce. They settled in September 2023 and agreed to share the custody of their children.
“I just didn’t know that the world works like this. I didn’t know that legal systems work like this,” shared King. “I thought, you know, when you decide to love someone, then you love that person. You build a family with them, and you trust them. And sometimes it’s not always that way.”
King explained that she has stayed calm for her Newman’s and Judicial Battle to protect their children: James, 14, and Leo, 9.
“I never wanted my children to think that some, some part of them was wrong,” she continued. “I am extremely grateful and at the same time, the system is really unfair. And I think it is really important to support the structure of family and kindness.”
Two years after their divorce was resolved, court documents revealed that Newman received the only custody of their two sons. He and King share common legal custody, but Newman has a “connecting authority” for any dispute.

King said the most “disturbing” part of the test is the “disgusting” claims to her as a mother.
“It just doesn’t make sense, right? So if you are not capable, if all these things are being said, then how are you suitable for providing children then?” She wondered. “How are you able to go to work 12 to 18 hours a day?”
King further claimed during Thursday’s episode in Podcast that she “paid for everything” throughout her marriage to Newman and admitted that she did not know if she would ever feel safe to talk about it publicly.
“I’m still scared,” she admitted. “I’m really scared.”
King continued to describe the most “terrible” part of her situation.
“Being able to be free means you have to pay a very extreme price, and I’m not just talking about financially,” she said. “Very very disturbing. I will do everything in my power to change the system, and it’s not a will. I’ll go.”
