“The Lando family is intact. All of us and our dogs and our two birds, thankfully, there are angels in this world,” Lando, 63, said in an Instagram video on Saturday, January 11, revealing that his home was burned to the ground by flames. “We are left with nothing but each other. My friend Jane Seymour allowed us to go to her house and opened it to us without any hesitation, and I thank God (she) gave us a place to come and sleep.”
A string of wildfires broke out in Pacific Palisades and other neighborhoods around LA on Tuesday, January 7, destroying thousands of acres of property. According to local officials, at least 16 individuals have died and tens of thousands of residents have been forced from their homes under mandatory evacuation orders.
Lando and Seymour, 73, played love interests Dr. Quinn, The Medicine Woman between 1993 and 1998. The show starred Seymour as Dr. Michael Quinn, who worked in Colorado Springs after the Civil War, while Lando played Byron Sully. In his message Saturday, Lando detailed his evacuation experience.
“The power just came back on for the first time in three days,” Lando said Saturday, noting that the Seymour neighborhood has also been affected by the fires. “There was no gas and you can’t drink water and you can’t breathe the air because it’s all poisonous. I have never experienced anything like this. It is indescribable.”
He continued, “You see people on TV going through these things and you think, ‘Oh, my God, this must be a terrible thing. Thank God it’s not me.’ And now we are those people. If it was just us, I’d be okay with it, but it’s for everyone. It’s everything and I’m just devastated and heartbroken for everyone.”

CBSLando broke down in tears in his social media video, reflecting on “all the people we know who don’t have a home.”
“There are a lot of rich people in my neighborhood, but that’s not the majority of this neighborhood. Most are hard-working people (who) have lived there for generations,” he said. “My wife’s parents lived on the street or did. They lost their house after 40 or so years. Our house wasn’t big or fancy, but it was our house. I worked hard on it. Whenever I wasn’t in an acting job, I’d be working on it, trying to stay out of trouble and save money.”
In addition to their family’s homes, Lando noted that his children’s school was also completely destroyed by the fires. (He was married to the woman Kiersten Barlow since 1997 and they have four children.)
“It’s all gone,” Lando added tearfully. “And there is no rich or poor, black or white, red or blue. This fire is evil and will kill everything.”
