Children of sound alum Karen Silva died after a hemorrhagic stroke. She was 17 years old.
Silva’s death was announced “with deep sadness” through a statement on her official Instagram account on Thursday, April 24.
The young man first shot in the spotlight when appearing in Children of sound In 2020 when she was only 12 years old. While Silva did not win the music race during her season, she did it in the semifinals round.
In the post announcing the news of Silva’s death, it was explained that she was hospitalized at São João Batista Hospital in Volta Redonda, after a hemorrhagic stroke. It was here she passed away.
“Karen fascinates Brazil with her powerful voice and surprising presence even in childhood, when she participated in The Voice Kids in 2020,” the post, which was written in Portuguese, read. “Since then, she has followed a bright path, joining talent, charisma and representation at every step.”
The post continued to describe Silva as an inspiration to others during her short life.
“More than a future artist, Karen was a symbol of empowerment, especially for the black girls they found in her inspiration and strength to dream. Her music, her message and joy leaves a deep sign to all those who met and followed her journey,” the post continued.
It concluded: “At this moment of great pain, we send our solidarity to their parents, Manoella and Fernando, with friends, family and fans. May the memory of your light continue to guide us.”
A few days ago on Monday, April 21, another post split through Silva’s Instagram account and also written in Portuguese revealed that the singer was fighting some serious health issues.
“Singer Karen Silva is facing a health problem and, at the moment, she is still under medical care, with the support and love of her family and team,” the post said. “We seek respect, empathy and prayer as it recovers peacefully. UpdateSdo updates will be made from our official channels. We all thank for love.”
According to the Mayo clinic, a hemorrhagic stroke “occurs when a blood vessel in the brain flows or explodes and causes bleeding in the brain. Blood increases pressure on the brain cells and damages them.”
