Although it is unclear when they started meeting, Ohtani announced in February 2024 that he had officially linked the knot.
“Not only that I (started) a new chapter in my career with Dodgers but I also (started) a new life with someone from my birthplace Japan who is very special to me and I wanted everyone to know that I am now married,” he shared in a post on Instagram. “I am excited for what will come and thank you for your support.”
After making their red carpet debut at the Dodgers Blue Diamond Gala Foundation in May 2024, the couple shared that they are waiting for their first child together.
“I can’t wait for the little novice to join our family soon!” Ohtan wrote via Instagram in December 2024 along with a photo of a pink, white baby shoes, a sonogram and their dog, Decay.

February 2024
Ohtan revealed that he had tied the knot to someone from Japan, but he did not separate her name or when they got married.
“We are still young and (there are) a lot of things we do not know yet, but hopefully you look warmly,” he wrote in Japanese in an Instagram post at the time. “Hopefully both of us (and a dog) will work together to support each other and move forward with our fans.”

A few weeks after announcing their marriage, the duo made their debut on social media after the Dodgers X account posted a picture of Ohtani with his arm about a woman who was later identified as his wife, Tanaka.
“Wheels up to Seoul,” the Dodgers account wrote along with the photo.

September 2024
According to a video shared by Dodgers Nation through X, Tanaka was seen celebrating with Ohtani and their dog, Decay, after the team won NL West. Dodgers later continued to win the 2024 world series.
December 2024
Ohtani and Tanaka took on social media to show that they are waiting for their first child, a girl.
April 2025
The Dodgers star shared through a heart post on Instagram that he and Tanaka welcomed a girl to the “Ohtani family” on April 19.
“I am very grateful to my beloved wife who gave birth to our beautiful healthy daughter,” Ohtani wrote via Instagram. “For my daughter, thank you for making us very nervous but super worried parents.”
He went on, “I would also like to thank the Dodgers organization, my teammates and fans for their constant support and well -known words of encouragement.
