Olivia culpo There is a detail of a blood clot that appeared during the first weeks of her pregnancy.
Sharing her experience through a Tiktok post on Tuesday, March 18, Culpo, 32, detailed how she recently announced pregnancy to her husband Christian McCaffrey left it to “bleeding everywhere”.
The video, which was recorded on December 12 when Culpo was pregnant nine weeks, revealed that the model was put on strict bed rest after getting sick with pneumonia for two weeks. “I’ve really been on the bed of bed, like four weeks,” she said before going through the details of her blood clot. “At the end of the two weeks of being really sick, I got a subcorionic hematoma which is essentially a stained clot in my womb and I was bleeding everywhere.”
By BabycentrA subcorionic hematoma occurs, also known as a subcorionic hemorrhage, “when the blood flows and collects between the uterine wall and the chorion”, which is the membrane around a growing child.
Culpo, who announced her pregnancy via Instagram on March 10, explained that she was left “so exhausted” as a result, but was relieved when she heard her baby’s heart beaten during a visit to her doctor. There, she learned how to sail the remaining weeks of her first trimester.
“(The doctor) said you can’t go anywhere, you can’t travel … Just really, stay in bed,” Culpo said before adding that “many” progesterone suppositories helped to “keep the best environment” for her unborn child and allowed the “placenta to be attached”.
