Riley StrainThe family has filed a misunderstanding of death against brotherhood Delta Chi a year after his accidental death at the age of 22.
The strain parents, Michelle Whiteid AND Robert Gilberthis stepfather, Christopher Whiteidand his stepmother, Melissa Gilbertfiled a lawsuit in Boone County, Missouri, Friday, March 21. Court documents, separated by local Nashville News Outlet Fox 17, list several members of the Missouri Fraternity University Chapter – including its President, Vice President and over 20 brothers – as defendants.
“At any time material here, Delta Chi was tasked with taking care of Riley Strain as a member of Brotherhood Delta Chi and as a” brother “in the organization, and on which Delta Chi affirms the control,” the documents read. Among the numerous claims of the lawsuit, Strain’s family accuses the organization of negligence, failing to ensure the safety of its members and allow “excessive alcohol consumption”.
Documents read, “As a direct and close result of the negligence and neglect of the defendant Delta Chi, Riley disappeared on March 8, 2024, and was pronounced dead on March 22, 2024, after drowning in the Cumberland River. After Riley was abandoned, but before his death, he experienced conscious pain and suffering. but suffered from Rile.
The lawsuit also says the strain “suffered extreme physical and emotional damage, and pain and suffering before his death” and described him as a “capable, capable, capable man do and perform work” before visiting brotherhood.
The family is seeking a jury judgment and compensation for emotional damage, medical costs and funeral and other financial expenses related to Strain’s death.

In addition to the ranking of his death as accidental, the autopsy report found that the strain blood alcohol level was 0.228 at the time of examination and also presented “traces of THC”.
In the same month, Bryan, 48, and more owners of Nashville’s bar were cleared of any wrongdoing in the investigation into Strain’s death. “While the circumstances of Mr. Strain’s death are tragic, Tabc’s investigation if he served alcohol while drunk on the night of March 8, 2024, did not result in any concrete evidence in the form of eyewitnesses or video evidence of a violation,” said Tennessee Biza Commission The weekly at the time.
