Before the reception Dick Clark’s Shocking New Year’s Eve on ABC, Seacrest, 50, appeared on Good morning America to talk about the show’s traditions — including when someone ends up proposing to them in the crowd.
“Yes, this is something that has happened almost every year,” he said through The people on Monday, December 30. “Some make TV, some don’t, but people want that moment to say, ‘Will you be with me for the rest of our lives?’
ABC correspondent Will Reevewho proposed to his girlfriend of many years Amanda Dubin in New York City last month, joked, “I should have proposed on New Year’s Eve with Ryan. Amanda would have said no.”
Seacrest jokingly replied, “There’s still time for me.”
In April, Wheel of fortune his longtime host and girlfriend Aubrey Paige broke up after three years together. Previously, Seacrest has been linked to Julianne Hough AND Shayna Taylor.
In response to Seacrest’s joke on live TV, Reeve said: “You got this, Ryan. However, we will not rush you.”

Featuring performances from Carrie Underwood, The Jonas Brothers, Thomas Rhett, Blake Shelton AND Lenny Kravitzthe live event is expected to have many surprises. While Seacrest has held the gig for two decades, he still gets excited to witness the ball drop in New York City.
“I will never forget that moment when Dick Clark said I want you to step in and take over and do this show every year,” he said Good morning America before co-hosting the primetime event with Rita Ora. “I’m looking forward to it. I get excited every time we’re able to watch him drop the ball.”
Seacrest admitted he “doesn’t know what’s going to happen” as the temperatures drop and a million people gather together in Times Square to usher in the new year.
“At that point, we’re all in this together,” he said. “Our differences don’t matter for a minute or two at the beginning of the year. This is something so rare and so significant and so special. It’s magical to watch.”
