What is Bilberry?
Also known as European cranberries or whorleberry, Bilberry contains anthocyanins, as well as phenolic acids, which are valued by most of its health benefits. It is similar in appearance with its close relative, American blueberry.
What are the anthocyanins?
Anthocyanins are considered flavonoids, which naturally occur pigments that give herbal foods their red, blue or purple colors and offer a variety of nutritional benefits. They are usually found in fruits, vegetables and grains.
When compared to other berries – such as strawberries, blueberries, sour cherries and raspberries – Bilberry possesses a higher concentration of anthocyanins.

What are phenolic acids?
Phenolic acids are the main micronutrients made of plants and are present in Bilberry’s fruits and leaves.
