An ancient temple belonging to a Pharaoh of the Old Testament is being returned by archaeologists in Egypt.

In a Facebook post published on Thursday, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced that the Temple of Ramesses II at Governor Luxor, Ramesseum, will undergo a considerable work in the New Year.

Ramesses II is believed to be Pharaoh who ruled over Egypt In the exodus book. The Egyptian king, whose name is also written Ramses, was born in 1303 BC and died in 1213 BC

The Ministry of Tourism said that restoration work is being done in cooperation with the National University of Korea’s National Heritage. According to Egyptian officials, Ramesses II built the temple to honor Amun-Ra, the Egyptian air of the air, the sun and the creation.

After an earthquake struck Egypt in 27 BC, Ramesseum remained in ruins, but a press release noted that the remains of the ancient building “indicate that it was a great temple that reflects the greatness and stature of Rama II among kings.”

“The temple is surrounded by a massive mud wall, and its length reaches 180 meters of 66 meters wide,” said the statement, which was translated from Arabic into English. “It also includes descriptions of one of the most important battles led by Ramesses II, the Battle of Kadesh.”

The project “aims to understand the methods used by the ancient Egyptians in the construction of this pillar, analyzing its inscriptions and comparing them with those in other temples.”

“Excavation work around the pole will try to discover stone blocks that were part of the pillar, in addition to the scientific documentation and the recording of these stone blocks, as well as the creation of a project database,” noted press release.
