The corpses of eight doctors of Palestina Rot Crescent (PRCS), which were shot in Gaza a little more than a week ago, were recovered, although a ninth worker has not yet been taken into account, said the Red Cross.
In a statement on Sunday, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) announced that it was “horrified” in the deaths.
“Your bodies were identified today and were recovered for dignified funeral. These employees and volunteers risk their own lives to offer others support,” said the ICRC.
The Palestine red crescent moon said that he also recovered the corpses of six civil defense members and an UN employee from the same area. It was said that the Israeli forces had targeted the workers. The statements of the Red Cross have not shared the guilt for the attacks.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) said that an employee from the nine-strong red crescent group was still not taken into account. The group was missing on March 23.
Competing claims
The Israeli military announced on Monday that an investigation had been determined that the troops opened the fire on a group of vehicles on March 23, the ambulance and fire trucks encompassed when the vehicles of a position without prior coordination and without headlights or emergency signals approached.
It is said that several militants of the militant groups of Hamas and Islamic jihad are killed.
“The IDF condemns the repeated use of civil infrastructure by the terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip, including the use of medical facilities and ambulances for terrorist purposes,” says a statement.
It was not commented on directly to the death of the workers of the Red Cross.
The incident was the most deadliest attack on Red Crescent workers at the Red Crescent since 2017, said the IFRC.
“I am broken. These committed ambulance workers reacted to wounded people. They were humanitarians,” said Jagan Chapagain, Secretary General of IFRC.
“They wore emblems that they should have protected; their ambulances were clearly marked,” he added.
According to the United Nations, at least 1,060 workers in the healthcare system have been killed in the 18 months since the start of Israel in Gaza after south of Israel stormed to South Israel on October 7, 2023.
The global committee reduces its international employees in Gaza by a third party due to the security concerns of employees.
