The Chinese guide will come in Vietnam on Monday against the background of the US China trade voltages.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has warned that trade wars “bring no winners” when he prepares to start a tour of Southeast Asia against the background of the increased trade voltages between China and the United States.
In the newspaper Nhan Dan in Vietnam, XI wrote before his visit to the country on Monday that the countries should work to advance “comprehensive and integrative global economic globalization”.
“Trade wars and tariff wars do not deliver any winners, and protectionism does not offer any solutions,” said XI.
“There is a need to protect the multilateral trading system, to maintain the stability of global production and supply chains and maintain an open and cooperative international environment.”
In a time of increasing unilateralism and protectionism, China’s economy is an “important driver of the global economy,” said XI.
“China will be highly open, create more opportunities for the world and contribute to the joint development of the countries through its own high -quality development,” said the Chinese leader.
Xi arrives in Vietnam on Monday as part of a five -day tour, where he also visits Malaysia and Cambodia.
The trip takes place when Beijing tries to present itself as a reliable trading partner for the region, which caused the uncertainty by the back and forth announcements by US President Donald Trump for tariffs.
Trump has struck a basic tariff of 10 percent on dozens of countries, many of which in Asia as well as targeted tariffs of 25 percent for vehicles, steel and aluminum.
The US President said he would introduce new tariffs for semiconductors this week, while steep “mutual” tariffs for dozens of US trading partners take a break last week after his announcement of a 90-day postponement.
Trump’s break did not include China, whose exports were beaten with a tariff of 145 percent.
China is the largest trading partner of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) and the top trading partner of Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia individually.
Vietnam is the largest buyer of Chinese goods in the region. According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs in 2024, imports from China increase by more than 30 percent to $ 144 billion in 2024.
After Vietnam, XI is said to visit Malaysia from Tuesday to Thursday, followed by a visit to Cambodia.
