Hooters, the restaurant chain based in the USA, known for chicken wings and tight waiting price outfits for their “Hooters Girls”, has applied for bankruptcy protection.
The Hoa Restaurant Group submitted the application for Chapter 11 on Monday at the North Texas Insolvency Court in Dallas.
The company has contested financial problems in the mount of its debts, but intends to remain open and solve its problems within months. A group of the company’s original founder, which has almost a third of Hooter’s US locations, including about half of the largest volume restaurants, plans to buy and operate more of the outlets, said Hooters in a press release.
“Our renowned hooters restaurants are here to stay and we take measures to strengthen our business in order to better use our esteemed customers in the long term,” said the company in a message on its website.
Hooters, based in Atlanta, was founded in Clearwater, Florida in 1983. Trouble has brewed for some time.
Hooters had sponsored the Nascar car No. 9 since 2017, but last year Hendrick Motorsports finished his connections to the long -term sponsor because it does not take up its financial obligations.
Over the years, the business strategy was challenges, including lawsuits due to his attitude, only “Hooters Girls”, a purely female serving employee who was dressed in tight tank tops and shorts.
Last year, it was ready to pay $ 250,000 in the USA and another relief for setting up a racing and color discrimination lawsuit in front of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against a Hooters-Outlet in Greensboro, NC, after the employees had accused the location of not recalled after a Covid-motivated person.
In 2022, the restaurant refuted the claim that it was closed and renamed because the taste of the customer changed.
In 2019, the Hooters Hotel-Casino was sold to an Indian hotel company in front of the Las Vegas Strip and renamed the Oyo Hotel and Casino.
In 2017, the company tried to open a restaurant that did not contain a waiter in tight tops as a test of another approach for its original concept.
