The US President Donald Trump welcomed Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and the reigning Champion Los Angeles Dodgers to the White House on Monday to congratulate them that they won the World Series last season.
Trump resulted in “the very talented people” who defeated the New York Yankees in five games, and at the same time refused to introduce some democratic senators to the ceremony because “I just don’t like them, so I will not introduce them (they).” The event took place on Monday for US shares after Trump doubled his tariffs.
Trump selected several Dodgers for her services last season and Ohtani praised that he was stolen baseballs first 50 Home Run-50, the Japanese Pitcher Yoshi Yamamoto and the National League Championship series MVP Tommy Edman.
Trump praised beds for his game and drove at the Boston Red Sox to swap him for the Dodgers, and they shook their hands at the ceremony.
Betts, the star outfield at the time for the 2018 Champion Boston Red Sox, did not make this team trip to the white house next year during Trump’s first term. Betts was among the Dodgers when they won the World Series in 2020 and took part in the celebration the following year under President Joe Biden.
The 32-year-old bed is the only black player in Dodgers who returned from the World Series team last season.
“Nobody in this clubhouse has to make such a decision except me,” said Betts on the weekend of his decision. “It is difficult. But it is what it is. I don’t try to do this political. All it is is that I am with my team to celebrate something. It is a privilege to get such an invitation like that. I just want to be with you.”
Manager Dave Roberts had given the invitation a great honor that every World Series champion could experience. Roberts said it was not a formal conversation that he and the players go to the White House.
The trip took place almost a month based on a website of the Department of Defense, in which Brooklyn Dodgers’ great and civil rights icon was described, and the military service of Jackie Robinson was restored after she fulfilled.
Dodger’s sizes that were not mentioned in ceremony
This development was carried out on pages on which a black medal of Honor winner and the Japanese American service members were honored -what the Pentagon said that he was a mistake in the middle of the efforts of the department to remove content that the contributions of women and minority groups found that the Trump administration considered “dei”.
Neither Robinson nor other former Dodgers greats were mentioned at the ceremony.
Trump briefly spoke about the former New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, whom the former New Yorker called as a friend. Trump also made fun of the notorious short leash of the late Yankees with his managers after congratulating Roberts.
“I think he would have even taken George Steinbrenner,” said Trump. “You lose two games and you fired.”
Mark Walter Walter and Pitcher Clayton Kershaw, co -owner of Dodgers, held short comments in the White House. Kershaw presented Trump a Dodgers jersey and No. 47 on the back.
Trump may have tipped his hand to expect the Dodgers, who were 9-2 in Washington on Monday evening, repeated champs as World Series.
“After you have seen how successfully you started the season, I can tell you that you can plan to be here again. I hope you can be here again next year,” said Trump.
The reigning Stanley Cup master of NHL, Florida Panthers, was the first team that Trump visited in his second term when they were honored in the early February during a ceremony in the Eastern Zimmer.
The White House also said that the Super Bowl champion of the NFL Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL accepted its invitation for April 28th.
