After a one-week trip to the International Space Station, which had risen into a nine-month stay, two NASA astronauts on Earth finally sprayed-or more injected.

On Tuesday, at 5:57 p.m. ET, a capsule came off the coast of Tallahassee in the Florida Panhandle and brought Suni Williams and Barry (Butch) Wilmore back onto the surface of the earth for the first time since their start to space in June.

The sea water was calm against a clear blue sky when the SpaceX crew dragon capsule with four crew 9 astronauts landed with four white and red parachutes. At some point, dolphins could swim to the capsule.

NASA’s live report on the return journey began at 4:45 p.m.

The 62 -year -old Wilmore and Williams, 59, returned with Nasa Astronaut Nick Hague and Roscosmos Cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov on board SpaceX ‘Dragon SpaceCraft, which was shocked on Monday evening by the International Space Station (ISS).

On the NASA live stream, Hague could be heard that the crew “grinned at ear” after landing.

The capsule started his deorbit burn.

The emergency of the so-called “stranded” astronaut-a term, which is widespread in media reports, although NASA and the two astronauts have not characterized their extended visit to space, has had the audience on earth for months, since the plan for their return continued to increase delays and complications.

Hague and Gorbunov had arrived in the ISS in the ISS in September, with two empty seats for the return trip from Wilmore and Williams, but this trip could only be set in motion when a full replacement team arrived to take over their roles in the ISS.

This new crew of four astronauts, crew-10, came to regular rotation of the ISS crew last week and will spend the next six months at the space station.

After the splashdown, the capsule was raised to the recovery ship, where the hatch was opened and the astronauts of team members on the ship were emphasized.

The astronauts are medically checked, a standard procedure after they have spent so much time in space. For Williams and Wilmore, the recovery time could take the months while they have strength in their limbs.

All four astronauts smiled and waved when they were carried away, first Haag, followed by Gorbunov, Williams and then Wilmore.

Left behind after test flight problems

Her odyssey began in June when she strengthened Boeing after a test flight of the Starliner capsule. It was the first crew flight of a Boeing spaceship and you should spend a little more than a week in the circulation room before returning home on June 14th.

Although Starliner certainly made it into the space station on June 6, the deficiency of the engines almost derailed the docking at the last minute. In addition to a small helium leak, this was considered that it may not be certain for Wilmore and Williams to return on board.

In August, NASA announced that it had decided that Boeing’s Starliner – which is completely autonomous, although it can be controlled manually if necessary – can return to earth without her crew.

Since then, Wilmore and Williams have been surrounded the earth as a fully built -in crew of expedition 71/72 of the ISS, carry out, research and repair space pathways when they were waiting to hear when they could come home. Williams was also commander of the ISS from September.

O’clock | The return trip became more complicated last summer:

How did a NASA mission go from 8 days to 8 months? | About it

According to NASA, Astronauts Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams may not be able to return from space until 2025 after a number of problems on the Boeing Starliner capsule were found. Andrew Chang explains why it is becoming more and more complicated to bring her home.

They gave in September That it was difficult to return the spaceship without it.

“This is how it works in this business,” said Williams at the time and added that “they turn the site and have to look at the next opportunity.”

It was also an important setback for Boeing who was hoping to join SpaceX as one of NASA’s named taxi services for the ISS. Engineers still examine the breakthrough.

Both Williams and Wilmore began in the US Marine and were selected by NASA as astronauts in 1998 and 2000. When they stepped on board in June last year, they were both familiar with the subtleties of space after they had previously subjected two space missions.

When her latest mission comes to an end, Wilmore will have achieved a total of 404 days in space in his three space aircraft, while Williams will have achieved 675 days of 675 days 608 and the second most common US astronaut. The Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko holds the world record with more than 1,100 cumulative days in space.

Long -awaited return

According to Scott Parazynski, a former NASA astronaut and today CEO of Onward Air and Aerospace Company, it is always a certain ordeal to live on earth after months.

“It will feel like they were 100 years old,” he told CBC News Network. “You will wear the weight of gravity and your spatial suits on your back for the first time (for months).”

Astronauts use training equipment for the ISS to stay in shape and prevent part of the loss of bone calcium and muscle integrity.

While a nine -month stay on the ISS is about three months longer than the usual rotation, it is far from the longest that someone has spent in space, so that Williams and Wilmore do not need any special precaution.

“There are enough precedence for this,” said Parazynski. “An American astronaut, Frank Rubio, doubled his stay on board the ISS -in fact, the US record, 371 (consecutive) days in space -when a soyus capsule arose.”

Cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev was at the space station when the Soviet Union, which had sent him there, was dissolved in 1991 and had it in space colors for 311 days, twice as long as its original mission.
